Title: Best small offense? (T1)
Post by: Red Wing on November 26, 2011, 07:24:15 PM
What's the best small offense in your opinion? Last year it was probably Job or WS, but this year I'm thinking maybe Isaiah or Ezekiel?

I guess it depends on what you define "small" as, like an absolute maximum number of cards it can have.

Isaiah is far and away the best. I have him paired with a large Israelite Kings defense, and he still rips through everything.

I'd say a Max of 15 cards not including Doms.

Judges as a small offense are at least on par or slightly below isaiah. 15 cards.

Herolite offenses that depend on a heroes negateable SA will do poorly.  Isaiah or Judges seem to do best, especially with Israelite Kings.

Isaiah ... seem to do best,...
And what exactly would an Isaiah offense look like that ONLY had 15 cards (including any arts/sites/forts/etc.)

Isaiah
King Hezekiah
Seraph
Seraph w/ Live Coal
Cherubim
Live Coal
Obadiah's Caves
Chamber of Angels
Chariot of Fire
Striking Herod
Spiritual Warfare

Feel free to do whatever else with the remaining four cards. In my Kings deck, I have a Hidden Treasures and ANB in there, but that's for recursion of Samaria sites. This isn't the most perfect offense in the world, but I dare anyone to come up with a better one in 11 cards.

Throne of David
Ahimelek
King David
Chariot
King Amazing
Valley of Salt
Counsel of Abigail
Peace Treaty
Unified Kingdom
Ezekiel's Stick
Pentacost

I think this is as good if not better, and it has a little drawing.

You only have two interrupts there, and one of them is pretty conditional. I'm not at all convinced that that would be superior to a bulletproof 9/11 hero.

Seeing as the current meta is CBN or CBI then I don't really think it matters. So I would take CBN initiative Rescue attempt anyday. Any kind of auto block defense would stop a bullet proof dude.

Fair enough. Different play styles I guess. I just realized I forgot to add Isaiah's Call and Wheel Within a Wheel to that by the way.

I would say that WS  with a Abomb defense or a Samaria defense.

Protection is much better than just CBN.  (Especially if said protection is CBN)  It's amazing how most defenses can't beat 9/11 numbers (even if they can take care of Isaiah)

Manny+Gomer+KoT with GoJ in play works pretty well.

So that's four cards, three brigades, and vulnerable to any CBN Isaiah enhancement (that he's recurring every turn).

well it's certainly not perfect and it takes time to set up, but if you can CM or Writ isaiah, then King hezzy probably won't be able to do much once you are set up. Or just use Charms to during your battle phase to capture both of them.

WS is the best due to it's tiny size and the fact that nobody is playing counters to it this year.

Are you kidding?  It gets wiped out by Cov w/ Death, and Egyptian defenses are only making Beheaded more popular.

Beheaded only stalls it for one more turn. Covenant with Death is less popular and is a curse, which is doable.

If anything, Brown decrease is what makes WS worried. Even that can be side stepped by good playing though.
