Didn't someone have an auto-block defensive strategy up on here a while back? I didn't copy it to study it then, but did anyone else so I can look at the card list?

Define "auto-block."I don't know what that is...

Instead of relying on a character + initiative + enhancement you just use character abilities to win the battle. Sometimes supplemented with Immune/FBN characters, multi-color enhancements, wasting disease, etc.
Uzzah
Trembling Demon
Egyptian Warden
King Zimri
Emperor Otho
etc.

I wasn't aware there was a term for that.
-
I think the term came about after some T2 decks last year had their defenses completely based on auto block combos.
-
Great, thanks. I also didn't know that's what the term ment. I was actually thinking it was an offense strategy... like a choose the blocker ish thing. Thanks. :)
-
Thanks Gabe and everyone else who helped me recall those nasty little "cowards"...
-
Nowadays, however, i don't think a whole defense will be based on auto-block, considering, uh, i dunno,
GARDED TOMB. Run into one of those, w/ an auto-block defense, and you lost, like, five minutes ago :-\
-
I'd think since Auto-block is pretty much just a bunch of one-time-use characters anyhow, the deck's offense would be the main focus. In fact, you might be using Garden Tomb yourself in a deck like that. :dunno: The focus would be a speedy win, not necessarily a reliable defense.
-
would rab/2kh/Fhistory be an auto-block?

And it worked very well in T2-multi.

Not if you're playing ANB abuse. ;)
-
lol... I had exactly the same amount of points in T2-2 and T2-M, but I remember thinking that I liked the strategy a LOT more in 2 player, simply because three other people all going against you will wear that defense down FAST. Granted, mine was significantly different from yours if I remember right.

could you also PM me this? Thx

x5 Uzzah's
x5 Tremblin' Demon's (with HoH)
x5 Seven Sons of Sceva (to get back Tremblin' Demon)
=
15 blocks. haha. haha.
Garden Tomb really isn't a problem, splash in a few brown people... then Tremblin's are generic... that's still 10 good blocks, plus whatever brown you have as back up... ... ... ...
-
That's my T2 defense in a nutshell, but my "few brown" people are 5 King Zedekiah's with 5 Dungeons and 5 Plots.

oh another auto block combo (or to make a fast block) is EMP galba + Naamans chariot and horses + heavy taxes. thats like my mosr favoret combo with EMPS
We know. You've only said pretty much the same thing what, four times now?

Wow, was that really necessary?
Mucisain may not be as experienced as you and I but he's still trying to give his input. The combo he suggested is a very good one and applies to the topic we're discussing. I just read over this entire thread and that specific "auto block" combo was not mentioned once. That makes his input valuable, imo.
Give the kid a break. Please.
-
but how do you define auto-block? I've always said it's the lack of having to play an enhancement... so the 2k horses + forgotton history wouldn't be one either...
-
Auto-block seems like anything that automatically denies a lost soul without allowing any initiative passes. I'd include any of the Horses + CBN battle-ender in that definition.
-
Yeah, that is pretty much how I heard it described before. When it simply denies the possibility of a LS being rendered from the current rescue attempt...it's AUTO-BLOCK! Good input guys, so is there any offense that compliments this strategy or does it not matter? I think that since some of the strategy involves converting their heroes an offense that converts those heroes back to heroes would be a little counter productive, but other than that...I have not thought of anything that would help or hinder this style of defense...thoughts?
-
I think auto-block = suicide defense.
Trembling Demon + HoH + Torment + SSoS = 3 instant blocks. :)
-
I believe Egyptian Warden goes in the Auto-block category, though.
-
I guess so, but I never like giving my opponent init. Warden, Otho, Zimri... all go in that category.
-
So if someone was to use this in Type-1 I think that the Gray/Black Pharisee/Sadducee defense would work because it has the fallback of banding. If I were to splash another defense color it would be Gold to include Egyptian Warden, Failed Objective, Prisoner Transfer and Evil Spirit specifically. I'm not sure that splashing Gold would be worth it though...
-
Splashing gold is always worth it. I've won whole games based on E warden alone.

auto-block doesn't use colors.
-
Fact. Auto-block doesn't see in colors. Fact.
Fact. The only thing Auto-Block can see is it's own wake of pwnage. Fact.
-
O_o; you don't use any enhancements then? or evil characters? ;) (I know what ya mean I'm just kidding)

Fact: John pwns Auto-block
Fact: CM pwns John
-
Fact: This thread is not provocative.
-
Fact. Most auto block defenses have HoH.
Fact. HoH pwns John's pwning of auto block.
-
Fact: I'm not paying attention.
Fact: RBW is right
Fact: DoN semi-pwns HoH
