Title: Abraham and his descendants
Post by: Ironisaac on April 13, 2018, 11:18:12 AM
Abraham (CoW)
Lot (FoM)
Abram's Army
Harbingers
Angel at Shur (P)
Isaac (CoW)
Jacob (Tin)
Joseph (Tin)
Midianite's Slave (FoM)
Benjamin
Asher
Levi

Forbidden Fruit (FoM)
Obedience of Noah
Faith Among Corruption
Abraham's Descendants
Coat of Many Colors (FoM)
Reuben's Torn Clothes
Forgiveness of Joseph
Joseph Before Pharoh
Not Alone (RoJ)

Babel (FoM)
Pit of Dothan (FoM)
The Ends of the Earth (RoJ)
Eternal Covenant (CoW)
Hidden Treasures
Unholy Writ

Reserve:
Buying Grain
Well Reopened
Pleading for the City

I played this with a splash brown defense with a few capture enhancements. Not sure if that will be the best, so I'm not posting that part. I'm mostly satisfied with the offense, although it still feels a bit large to me. Might take out Harbingers and put another enhancement in the reserve.

Quick update on this offense, I played a multi game against a rev angels and demons deck, and a splash clay/Pharisees today, and I won 5/3/3. the offense is amazingly fast, and I think cutting it down a bit was a definitely a good idea I'm going to remake the defense to be a mostly brown with a few black cards and make it more based around some of the new idols. I'll post that here when I do that. I changed my mind about saying i won't play it as my main deck this season, I probably will, once i can make a good defense for it. It's that good. even with the other two people teamed up against me, I was still able to out rush them and snipe crucial characters from their territory. Babel was a huge help, especially against the roj splash meta.

Edit: after looking over black stuff and the list master q posted below, a more traditional canaanite defense does seem like the right way to go here, especially if you want to get the most out of pit of dothan. I still want one or two brown guys so i can play brother's envy though, it's just so useful.

My favorite FoM deck is for sure Abe+Caananites. This is that:

Lost Souls: 7
Resurrection
Darkness
Humble
Vindicated
Covet
Prosperity
Blind

Dominants: 7
SoG
TSC
AotL
Grapes
3 Woes
CM
FA (w)

Artifacts/Sites/Fortresses: 6
Unholy Writ
You Will Remain
Go Into Captivity
The Ends of the Earth
Babel
Sodom & Gomorrah

Heroes: 9
The Angel of the Winds
Angel at Shur
Harbingers
Noah
Abram’s Army
Abraham
Lot
Isaac
Sarah

GE: 6
Not Alone
Sword of the Spirit
Answer to Prayer
Faith Among Corruption
Abram’s Servant to Ur
Abraham’s Descendant

DAC: 3
Second Bowl of Wrath
Fifth Bowl of Wrath
Nephilim

EC: 7
The Deceiver
Foreign Wives
Fire Foxes
Lot’s Wife
Og, King of Bashan
Talmai
Sheshai

EE: 5
[Card not revealed yet, to my knowledge]
Idol Worship
Baal Worship
Plot to Kill
Devourer (k)

Reserve: 10
Deceit and Vengeance - {back when it was Blue/Black
Lingering in Sodom - {back when it captured outside of battle
Shrine to Artemis
Uzzah
Shechem
Ahiman
Everyman’s Sword
Ishbibinob’s Sword
Lahmi’s Spear
Stone of Thebez

Obviously there's room for improvement (and Nephilim is no longer with us), but the core is solid, I think. The amount of negates the defense has is staggering, and the reserve access from Sodom and Gomorrah is stellar if it's not negated.

So how did Sarah work in this deck? She's always been kind of hard to use for me because there aren't to many good options to exchange to for her. There's eve, but if you are playing the abe offense, you really don't need more hero speed, there's noah's wife, bad in this deck because no flood survivors, rachel or leah could be decent, but you don't have their children, and Rebekah is off the table until she gets a reprint.

The exchange is pretty irrelevant- Sarah sets aside an opponent's female (good or evil) CBI for 2 turns. It's incredible against Flood Survivors, Woman with Child, Foreign Wives, etc. She was MVP one game, setting aside the Flood Wives all day long.

Ah nice. That makes more sense. Might have to work her in some how, with all the new females in this set.

Just a fun play I like with Abraham is this

Abraham plus his place enhancement, band to sarah, exchange to Rachel, exchange to Benjamin. If your opponent blocks you can get a Play first (from Abraham) that is CBN off Benjamin.

Has anyone found a way to abuse the capture/add to battle or draw on lot? I feel like there should be something there, but I can't think of anything.

You could use Charms or Writ to capture Lot and add Abram's Army to battle to release him and discard the EC in battle.
