subject line says it all, can any veterans tell me what metas were out there during that timeframe, I wasn't really a meta player exactly.
-
I probably wouldn't call myself a meta player at that point either, but if I remember correctly, speed decks were still pretty much top tier. Sort of a blue/purple/white mix with the draw three enhancements, ET, AoC, all that jazz. It didn't really get much from Priests aside from Pentecost.
FBtN banding was pretty good around then since most of it's firepower came from Kings.
And of course Priests made the priests offense viable with Phineas/Zeal being one of the most consistent battle-winners. Pentecost, Jehoida's Strength, Burning Incense, Joshua the High Priest, etc.
On defense I think crimson and brown were both decent. Brown had Plot (which was clearly good at the time since they printed a "counter" for it in Priests, Haman's Plot Exposed :P ). Crimson just got Judas Iscariot which was the answer to Zeal, AoC, and AotL. Ananias and Sapphira were good, King Merodach-B and Carried Into Exile, Great Image was aight.
I think Assyrians were probably the best though, at least in T2 anyway. Five 2kHorses, five Forgotten History, throw in some Confusion, and Assyrian Camp to protect from AoC, and you got what was probably the strongest defense around.
Something could maybe be said about Egyptians with Wonders Forgotten and Failed Objective, but I don't think they really got to be "meta" until the Tins gave them Egyptian Horses, Ruthless, Amalekites' Slave, and the mill stuff.

Heroless... 'nuff said... :o

2007 meta? Those were good times!
FBTN was meta because there weren't enough reliable counters. Heroes like Moses, TSA and rainbow enhancements with numbers were a strong offense. Captain bands were meta too.
Both red and gold were so terrible they were only played as a splash into decks. I ran a deck with no "defense", just red sites, CM, Writ and some GEs to steal/kill an opposing access site.
This deck (https://www.cactusforums.com/national-tournament-winners/2007-t1-2p-1st-place/) won T1-2P at Nationals that year.
The best defenses consisted of splash immunity and FBTN - KoT, PotW, Red Dragon and Nero. There weren't nearly enough interrupt/negate abilities in the game to deal with immunity in those days.
The other main defense of the day can be seen in Tim's deck here (https://www.cactusforums.com/national-tournament-winners/2007-t1-2p-3rd-place/).
Heroless was strong but had problems with timing out so it didn't see success at higher level tournaments. IIRC a black Sadducee Heroless that ran Saul/Paul was the way to go.

I remember you playing variations of these decks on RTS... ahhh, good ol' RTS...

Didn't realize my deck was posted when I won, that's super cool! I believe this defense would have still held quite well in 2007 times as well. I also believe during those times (and maybe even today) 63 card decks were underrated.

I like 56 card decks... i figure you don't have to be the fastest, just fast enough and those 5-6 cards may be the difference... 63-70 if running heroless...
Godspeed,
Mike

See, back then I played 105 - 112 type 1 decks and would deck out early against 50 card decks
So far, I've heard:
Banding
FBTN
Heroless
I'm not looking for top decks only, what were the other meta's? I remember there were 6 and heroless was 7, what were the other 4?
-
From any research I've been able to do
FBTN
Speed - Which really employs every one of these options except stonewall and heroless.
Efficient Cards - Tim Maly's Old Faithful deck
Stonewall - Kill defensive cards with Gabriel, Territory Destruction, and I Am Holy. "Unstoppable" defense.
Site-Lockout - Set up a scenario where no one can rescue.
Banding with FBTN included
Heroless
Furthermore, given the time period and the fact that choose the blocker worked the way that it did up until recently, provisions and King Amaziah were a huge part of the metagame as well on offense.
-
that sounds about right the only other one I remember was offense only decks (no defense) that was a fun one to play as well.
Ty all.
Which types of Meta are run today. I'm looking for general types please
