What are the majority of top decks running these days?

Yeah, for whatever reason people haven't posted good disciples lists recently. At least, not that I've seen.

They are either saving them for Nats trying to be sneaky (not sure how you can be sneaky with a deck like that...), or they aren't going to be as big as we thought. I think they will be played a lot and probably place very high.

A deck type that is annoying to others, fun to play with, not well countered in the meta, and very powerful otherwise...

This was kind of true 2 years ago. Defensive heavy is yet to place top 3 though. Looking at this year though top level players that I've seen lately have switched to balanced decks with a slight pull towards offense. This gives the defensive ability to crush the tiny offenses in defensive heavy and stand up to some balanced offenses. Personally I think the game is in the best place I've seen it since I hit the circuit in early season 2012.
Right now it's not all about speed, yes speed contributes to good deks but I think player ability, understanding of the game, ability to read what an opponent wants to do/play and playing mistake free will be what elevates top players this year. I believe the meta right now allows for more options of decks then the 4 listed by westy. I love were redemption type 1-2p is right now.

I agree with jbeers285.
An interesting thing happened at the MN State tournament this year. Alot of timed out games. Thats never happened before in over 10 years of hosting tournaments
- 11 out of the 14 type 1 - 2 players were involved in in a timed out game.
- The winner had 3 timed out wins
- every round had at least one timed out game.
I did not play so I checked in all the decks and their were alot more balanced decks. Nationals should be interesting. I guess thats what happens when type 2 players play type 1.

Totally disagree, I've read players many times in games. Good reads had lead to me using lesser blocks due to figuring out what card my opponent intended to play allowing me to save the better block for later and same with rescues. I'd say one of the strongest parts of my play is reading my opponent. There are so many little things people don't realize they do as tells.

By all means, feel free to use an example. But no, the lack of a cost system severely hinders getting good reads on what an opponent has in hand and actually ending up profitable.
