Title: Top Cut! - Entree Decks, Judging and Next Ingredients
Post by: Redoubter on April 28, 2014, 11:28:34 PM
[NARRATOR WITH LINGERING COLD VOICE]
And the Entree Round has ended, but half of the competitors are still in a post-feast coma! Sadly, they have been eliminated for not submitting a deck...OH WELL! LET'S SEE abo.. *cough*cough*..HACK*...phlegm* Ahem, sorry about that, I was just sick, so...yeeeeah...
NAMELESS! First deck submitted, and on time, which is DEFINITELY being considered in his overall rating for this round by the judges, believe you me...

KOALAKINGFA! Only a few hours late in submission, but he took his time making sure it was right before making a final submission, and here it is:

[The coolest judge takes his place, glaring at the NARRATOR who passed on the plague]
Alright, so, I am disappointed we did not get more submissions. However, I LOOOOVE the decks we received! So I'm just going to focus on you two, who will be making it into the next round.
Nameless
KoalaKingFA
Well done, both of you, and let's get ready for the FINALE!
**Other judges may still post their public feedback later**

[NARRATOR, BACK AGAIN WITH A COUGH DROP]
Alright, we are down to TWO COMPETITORS, the field of nine being reduced through the rounds! Here, we prepare for the dessert round, where you will be fighting for the FIRST victory in...TOP CUT!
Remember, the winner will be determined by who performed best OVERALL, and each of your decks will be weighted the same. Also, as stated in the first posts, remember that you only had two copies of every version of every card printed for the whole competition, plus all cards you had in your baskets, to work with; if you already used the two copies you were supplied for something, it isn't available for this round!
Without further stalling, here it is, the dessert round, where perhaps you might have a discussion over sugary feasts and coffee...a discussion of...PHILOSOPHY PERHAPS?!
Philosophy! (http://redemption.wikia.com/wiki/Philosophy_(P)) Greek Philosophers! (http://redemption.wikia.com/wiki/Greek_Philosophers_(Ap)) Job's Three Friends! (http://redemption.wikia.com/wiki/Job%E2%80%99s_Three_Friends_(Pi)) King Solomon! (http://redemption.wikia.com/wiki/King_Solomon_(TP))
HAVE AT IT!

Seriously? Brown again? Ugh...

No one forced you to use brown in your last two decks. The first round you could have done what jbeers did and run crimson kings with heretics, so the gates did not lock you in. Second round, there were no required brown cards (except spearman, but he's all colors).

We actually had all 3 rounds planned out ahead of time to be fair to all competitors, sorry :-\

I feel quite happy that the only cards that I cannot use are some lost souls and dominants. As well as Scattered,I think.

Hint for the players in this round, Marketplace recurs NT generic evil characters and can be recured by Etheopean treasurers or the I and J Gabriel, just thought I would make this interesting ;)

Well, I didn't want to have to spoil it before the submission time but I also didn't want to submit an illegal deck so my question is: does it have to be the TexP King Solomon? I ask because I was going to use the gold Promo one but I decided to check the thread again to make sure it didn't specify but I forgot it was a wiki link to the TexP one.

In the basket you will find the TexP version of King Solomon, but you are free to use anything you still have left in your reserves... ;)

Did they all die again?

I was out of (my) town (and actually in your neck of the woods, haha) for a wedding this weekend and last week was super busy at work so I will admit I haven't had a chance to look at your submissions yet. My apologies and I will get to it right away. :P

I died again, just haven't gotten on here. My bad, but we'll make it up to you ;) Just hang on there.

The judges have made a decision, but since Redoubter is the head dude of this show we're waiting for him to un-die again and verify/announce the results. :P
*suspenseful music plays*

My internet actually died, and was on-and-off late last night into this morning when I wanted to post...so...
I WILL STALL SOME MORE! >:D
But I WILL post my feedback. If the other judges want to do the same, they can, but I will announce the winner by Sunday.
Prizes will be supplied to BOTH competitors, since you guys stuck it out to the end. Of course, the winner will receive more, but you both did great (and had to wait for me a lot) so you deserve something for the trouble :)
Now, my feedback for your Dessert Decks (and ONLY those decks ;)):

Also, I think it's past Sunday, and past Sunday again... Results? ???

I looks like this has about died, and we are not even done with the first one. I would have really liked to see this be something that would keep going.

I think perhaps if Redoubter was having less life-pulling-away-from-the-forums stuff then it would have gone more smoothly. I believe the decision has been made on the winner, but he's the head honcho so we've been waiting for him to announce it (I would but I have no information on the prizes, if any, that the winner would get; Redoubter has all that).

Well, here's what happened this last time:
I posted here, and said "I'll give them a day or so to get other judge feedback, if they have any." Then I forgot about you completely.
I agree that this would work better if I didn't have other things going on, because while I have time on here, I completely forget to follow-up on this timely. So I won't be running it again (particularly not soon).
HOWEVER! You both have been waiting long enough.
First...the prizes!
Runner-Up will receive: One basket of ingredients, of their choice*.
Winner will receive: One basket of ingredients, of their choice*, plus an I/J Starter Deck or a Tin 26 (the newest one).
*One caveat: if you pick the one with Genderless cards, you get all the ones I can find a copy of around here.
So, without further silliness (or waiting),
THE WINNER IS...
Thank you both for playing, and shoot me a PM for your prizes!

Will this continue? I would be interested in doing this, I hope it doesn't just stop.

As much fun as it was, I need to reevaluate how to do it in the future, and this precise moment is bad. I forget about it too easily, and we had a lot of problems getting all the decks back timely too.
So, this may make a comeback in the future. Actually, this may be an interesting activity for the 'slump' the boards sometimes go through a month or so after Nats, or as a way to get some deckbuilding concentrating on Clay done. I'll see if I can do this again then, when I will be less busy.
