Title: Saul/Paul
Post by: Trainboy365 on January 13, 2015, 07:42:51 PM
Because he's an evil character and a hero does he count as a good and evil card towards deck building rules? And also because Paul is rainbow does that mean I can only have one in my deck?

I believe he just counts as an evil character for deck building

Ok, but why does he only count as an evil character twards deck building rules if he's a hero as well?

He enters play as an evil character (Saul), and once converted becomes a hero (Paul).

So he does only count as an evil character towards deck building rules, correct? And because Paul is rainbow can I only have one in my deck or multiples?

25. What does Saul/Paul (http://redemption.wikia.com/wiki/Saul/Paul_(Ap)) count as for deck-building?
At face value (in hand, deck, or discard), Saul/Paul is Saul, a unique, singe-brigade evil character with no special ability, which is how he is treated for deck-building rules.

He has an errata (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/redemption-official-rules/errata-reworded-special-abilities/) that the printed 'ability' on the card is an identifier.

Ok thanks for the clarification.

So if Saul/Paul counts as an evil card for deck building, what would King Abijam count as? When he's put in play the holder choses whether he's good or evil.

There are some cards, like Abijam, that are both good and evil 'at face value' (hand, deck, discard).  He counts as both, and either, until played.

You can have 3 of him per 50 in a T1 deck.

'Him' being Saul/Paul not Abijam, in case anyone is getting ideas since we ended up getting into two different deck-building questions ;)

But yes, absolutely you can have that many, and he counts as a Gray, evil, unique, Roman, Pharisee while he is Saul (which includes hand deck and discard).  It's a fun card.

I wish Cactus would make more cards like Saul/Paul.

Well, we made Abijam, which has great abilities no matter how you played him.  Also, look up The Roman Jailer in the new set, that's a fun one too ;)

I wish those cards had the two pictures on opposite sides, like Saul/Paul.

I think it would be cool to have more "flip" cards like Saul/Paul and Philosophy.

Because of the additional graphic design required to make a card like Saul/Paul vs a card like Abijam Rob has chosen to make them like Abijam instead. Some of the play testers asked to have Abijam designed like Saul/Paul but it's unlikely we will see another card like that in the immediate future.

Aw man! I love Flip cards, but they kind of mess up in sleeves....
