New Deck? Their first time playing

I know it's really late in the game, but I really wanted to go to nats this year and I can only go if accompanied by a parental unit so my dad was gonna fly w/ me to Boston. I didn't wan him to be bored those 3 days and have him just watch, so I suggested he play as well. He seems really excited but doesn't really get it, and I'm down to a matter of weeks what is the best deck I can build for him so he will get it and also must have some strength. I dont want him to be out te first time he plays (if that is how nats works) but I also want him to know what he is doing. I also want him to be my partner for teams an I have an offense-less conversion deck. I'm sorry if this is too specific. He seems really excited and I don't want to let him down! I hope you guys can help. Thanks!

Sounds exciting.

You don't have to worry about him losing the first round and then not getting to play. Redemption is awesomer than that beings it uses the swiss system; even if you lose every round, you still get to play the same number of games as everyone else! Just try and build him a simple deck until he gets a further grasp on the game: 1 good color, 1 evil color (I reccomend 8 heroes, 8 good enhancements, 8 evil characters, 8 evil enhancements, 7 lost souls, and then sites/forts/curses/whatever else helps).

As for teams, just make sure your defense help each other. If one of you is playing demons, make sure the other isn't using three nails ;).

Just build him a TGT deck. As much as I hate TGT, it is the easiest, best, cheapest good offense.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!
