This has concerned me. Can you play 56 cards in a "speed" deck and still remain viable? the extra 5 cards would be defense in this situation,
-
FWIW, I think a 57-card speed deck would be preferable anyway, since with Speed you're not usually going to depend on soul-drought so the extra soul won't hurt nor will it add to the amount of cards you need to get through, and you get to use an extra dominant.
As for whether 56/57 is viable, I'd say it is, but it's not optimal. There are going to be games when the extra defense will come in handy and you'll get the advantage over other speed decks, but I'd say overall your chances are better the smaller your deck is.
-
Depends on what meta you're playing in. In the online meta 50 is optimal. If you play in a more diverse meta where 70 card decks will see play then I would say a 56 card deck is the most optimal.

I use a 53 carder that works quite well. I could go smaller with cuts from defense, but I like the mix I have.
-
Woudnt it be 58 then because a lost soul and extra dominant?
-
No you just take out another card in place of the dominant.
