Thrown into the sea is not in it... I am dissapointed.  :(

Seriously so this is it? So... if I have like 3 evil characters banded together you can't win? My deck would tear this up...

It put up a good fight vs RTSmaniac one time then I had to go.

This deck is not trash if I had a way to stop banding It would be better.

With all due respect, unless I'm missing something awesome (which I'm 95%) sure I'm not, this deck is trash. The Ratio's are bad, it's missing dominants all over the place, and apart from an early rescue the offence can't do a thing.

I'm going to make this deck, card for card, and go up to a Roch tournament to win.

"Yeah. I use SOG in booster, s0n!"

If a don doesn't ruin this noah keeps comeing back until you have no battlewinners.

Ok, so your deck is countered by one card, one card that happens to be a staple. And guess what - 6/5 really isn't that hard to block straight up.
Title: Re: This is the Noah deck.
Post by: RTSmaniac on October 04, 2010, 11:58:32 AM
and on a side note- adino only prevents all special abilities on enhancements (except banding and weapon-class). some people forget and think its characters too.

Noah's 14/7.

you guys have to understand he is working with a limited cardpool as well.

It's a cool idea, but Gomer + KoT beats it.
Title: Re: This is the Noah deck.
Post by: Lamborghini_diablo on October 04, 2010, 02:00:09 PM
I have to agree. I don't see that offense winning a game. At all. UNLESS the opponent draws a ton of souls, no evil characters, and you draw SOG NJ off the bat. However, any offense could win in such a situation.

It might have a better chance if you used some battle winners, rather than relying on a rather weak 14/6 hero to win by the numbers. Also, where is Brass Serpent? That card is crucial for combo offenses. As i said to you in that PM, if the opponent gets a band higher than 15 defense, you have no chance of winning.

i think this deck has a chance. noah + noah's sons = win, and thats all he needs.

Job has one card that makes him unkillable, and has number of awesome enhancements to go with him. Noah has numbers and a bunch of other stuff that make him difficult to kill. Job>Noah.

Master Q has a point. KoT negates Noah's ability, and kills him. Ananias + Sapphira would too. Seven Sons and Herod's Temple would get around AoTL, and you're done for.

Exactly. Better yet, three nails. Stops Red Dragon AND Kot.

IF I were to play with this, which I wouldn't, I would add some if not all of the following:
Wool Fleece- take care of evil banding
3 Nails- take care of the slew of demons that would take this offense down
holies of holies- take care of FBTN
holy grail- knock out a couple pesky ECs

I don't like Noah or job decks myself. Not enough offensive options for my taste. May work if you perfect it though :)

I understand what you mean, and I know. My problem with job is that I like having several hero options when I rescue. Just my taste. I know there are several nice combos. I enjoy a deck full of heroes ;D

There has to be a point at which that happens, though. Either the battle phase ends before or after you shuffle everything. As such, they should then be able to play something either from their current hand or their new hand (such as an interrupt/play next) to try and prevent the rescue. They would have special initiative since they're losing the battle.

Quote from: Errata - Reworded special abilities
A New Beginning - If making a rescue attempt, remove this card from the game to shuffle all cards in play, set aside areas, and hands into decks.  End the battle.  All players draw 8.  End the turn.  Begin a new turn.
shuffle happens, battle resolution happens, draw happens, turn ends, new turn begins.

That really doesn't make much sense, especially considering the easy way to abuse it. Would it be so hard for them to make a good errata for ANB? >_>

Uhm, I'm 100% sure everyone that just said the deck was good is.

Here is my take, I appreciate your attempt to use little known/used cards to win but unless they are used EFFECTIVELY, you are better off using an often used hero.

I am going to sound mean but the truth is, a g/h starter could be this, maybe even a e/f.

I've seen Noah decks back in the day. I even used one. This is not one.

Dude, cut the criticism and add constructive criticism. Not to sound rude, but what you said was rude.
Rude, yes, True, very yes. In order for constructive criticisms to be made, it'd change the WHOLE deck.

It's all good. I always offer constructive criticism, but sometimes the best kind of constructive criticism is "scrap the deck."

doubtful.
Title: Re: This is the Noah deck.
Post by: lightningninja on October 07, 2010, 06:48:50 PM
Yeah... the meta would have to be like "banned defenses" for this to be good. But then your defense would be banned so their offense would be quicker than yours and you would lose.

So yeah, I'll go with doubtful.

To be perfectly honest, Red, Noah is just not that good of a character. In order to make him any better statwise than any of Jacob's sons from Dan on up, he needs another character in play who is not even the same brigade. There are no cards that work well with just Noah (unlike Job), pretty much his only benefit to other cards is to make CoN a 4/10. It would be just as easy to make a Reuben deck as a Noah deck; it would be easier and Reuben's ability is better.

Now, since the story of Noah makes Noah a perfect Herolite candidate, perhaps a possible reprint someday will make a "Noah deck" something worth pursuing. But in reality, he is at best a Hero with a high strength who can't be targeted by maybe four usable defensive enhancements, but is susceptible to pretty much everything else

Noah is great if you abuse the fact that Noah gains any abilities that his sons have, allowing for some cool protection, etc. The thing is you have to abuse that properly.

so if you Gather Noah's Sons or Provision them and set them aside in say Goshen. Then Noah gains it also?
Title: Re: This is the Noah deck.
Post by: Minister Polarius on October 09, 2010, 01:12:40 AM
Yus. But the Provisions wears off after the "first time." The only real good thing about Noah is being able to grab Gathering off a Hero not in battle, so you can recycle it if you lose the battle.

Melchizedek's Blessing (Pi)
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Teal • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Place on an O.T. human Hero in a territory or set-aside area. While this card remains, Hero is protected from discard abilities, and each time that Hero enters battle, holder may draw a card.

Sounds like a good card to play off of Ahimaaz for this kind of deck

After rereading this thread I want to publicly say to Jay that I am sorry for the behavior of past board members. I am sure you had moments of being a kid that frustrated people but what child doesn't have those moments? The posts in this thread alone where rude, condescending and out right mean.

This is showing me a history in this game that I didn't know existed. I am glad the boards are not currently like this.  I see now how a "joke is on Jay culture" emerged. I have even laughed and made some jokes myself. I had always believed that it was entirely good natured. Apparently I was wrong. No one deserves this kind of pounding especially at the age you were.

I hope you no longer feel a need to prove yourself in redemption. You are a good player/deck builder. You have a good heart. I'm really happy for you placing this year!  I hope this year has given you some satisfaction about  your career, both where you were and where you are now.  I bet the people in your life that know the deeper parts of you don't even reflect on redemption when the evaluate your value to them.  You're a Christ follower and a servant of the Most High King. Your worth and strength come from the blood of Jesus, poured out for you.  You belong in His family, you have value in Him and in the fact that you are an image bearer of God, the Father.  You are filled with the Holy Spirit. In the light of this stuff, redemption means nothing.

Eh I changed one day when the meta's diffent maybe a new verson of this deck will be good.

Called his shot. Well done, Jay.  8)

I was not active on the boards during this time, but I am ashamed as well of the bullying that took place.  :(
I also regret and am sorry for the times I have not spoken up when someone has been the target of bullying on this forum.

May this board be a place where we lift each other up with words of encouragement.

As one who did make posts of a despicable nature in this thread I am ashamed and appalled. Jay, you're a rockstar, and deserve major props for how well you've done in your Redemption career

I must say, I have harbored no hard feelings from the remarks made at the time of the original thread. I'll have a longer response coming later today.

I haven’t gone back and read this thread, but I’ll second the comments above and add that Jay has done an outstanding job of judging at the past two Nationals. It’s a pleasure to have him as part of the team. Sacrificing his option to compete in order to serve (when he’s not part of the elder team and under no obligation) is a reflection of his servant heart.

While I still feel @Rawrlolsauce won the thread, that was kinda rough. I think once you get to know people personally they come across as less abrasive online, but we have to keep in mind that peoples' online experience here could be their only one if they get a bad impression.

As one who "rags" Jay quite a bit, mostly due to silly/goofy things he says and does now (not in the past).  I do hope that he realizes I cherish his friendship.  He has been around my playgroup for a long time, and would do anything I ask in a heartbeat and without question.  That type of friendship (regardless of it being form from a card game or not) is not easily earned.  While me and others do give him a hard time (probably more than we should), we also try to help encourage him.  Jay, you have said for several years now that you think Jeremy is a better player than you.  But the fact is you have shown your abilities, and need to remember you are a good player in your own right.  We have said that to you many times, so don't believe anything people who don't know you say.  I actually know you don't, but it is always good to have a reminder or two!

Just a helpful hint, think about what you are about to say around us, because sometimes it is just to priceless to forget and not bring back up!  :P  (you know what I'm talking about!)

Chris, i am with you and clearly you aren't in the vein of people bullying in thread. Sorry if my post felt like an accusation on you or your play group.

I never expected this thread to become an anti-Redemption bullying campaign, but hey! I want everyone who has posted since I revived this monstrosity of a thread to know that I deeply cherish my friendships with each and everyone of you. Redemption has been a gigantic part of my life for the past ten years, and I hope to say that it continues for the next ten!

I didn't feel that way at all.  I'm not even on this thread until today.   :P  But all that being said, if you have been around Jay and me for any period of time, you would probably have heard me rag on him.  I'm just clarifying is all.  My mentor growing up gave me this quote, "If people pick on you, that means they like you."  The difference between the people on this thread and me is first, Jay knows me personally (probably doesn't everyone on this thread).  Second, he knows I'm simply being silly when I mess with him, but others who don't know him or me might not.

I haven’t been able to post on this until now due to work but I was reading it yesterday and wanted to say, “how in the world are you still playing after that brutal beatdown you took on this thread!?” Then I come back today you you got an overwhelming amount of well deserved love and support. Great job on placing especially with flood/Egyptians.

Oh wow, I remember this. 4/10 to the face. ;D Seems I probably even posted some sort of advice on it way back when (something about Gomer/KoT stopping this offense cold?). That's the trouble with randomly deleting old posts, I suppose.

Your growth as a player over the years is a good example of what happens when you keep at something. Excellent work, good sir!

Speaking of this thread, is the promised LoR article ever coming out? I'm really interested to hear the details.

Yes! I've stalled a bit on writing due to an insane work schedule to catch up after nationals, but if I ever get time at home, it will be finished.
