Background:
The first version of this deck saw play before the rules changes and ran the standard 11 dominants. I decided to use Falling Away over Mayhem because I wanted to see how it would do without Mayhem. Falling Away helped me push the differential spread more. The deck was fast enough I was able to always use Falling Away.
I also stopped playing this year before the ruling on not allowing Sam to pull out a David/Saul when another was already in play. Evil King Saul kept bouncing in and out of the deck even before that though.
Joseph's Silver Cup was brutal to keep them without help for 2 turns. Especially when I got it up early before they activated anything or something that wasn't going to hurt my deck. Or I would play it the turn after using Captured Ark, Foreign Sword, or DoN.
Next 2 cards in:
Pharaoh's Cupbearer - More soul generation. Was in this deck for most of its existence. I used to run the deck at 56 when I ran 11 dominants. I loved being able to use Cupbearer to use Joseph's Silver Cup another 2 times. Everyone knocks on that card but it is brutal when you play an offensive heavy deck.
Pentecost - More speed. I pulled it for more power instead.

Why 53 cards instead of 50 (or 51)?

Red wing,
I think 50 Card decks do not have enough firepower to contend against strong defenses in 56 Card decks. Meaning, either you could devote several more slots to beef up your defense or increase your speed and soul generation so you can win before your opponent does. I know many other top t1 players will contend that the best decks are 50 or 51 cards if you use Haman's plot. However, I Usually shy away from making decks that small.
Josh,
That is fun to hear y'all used silver cup as well! I usually do not play games anymore but I imagine it would be effective.
