Title: Lineage of Christ speculation
Post by: Xonathan on October 29, 2019, 01:26:35 PM
Spoiler (hover to show)

Just going off the spoiled title, it might be safe to assume we might see these fellas (and their wives) in the next set. Many of these characters don't have cards and a few can use some reprints like Judah and Zerubbabel. It would be interesting to see another Noah or Abraham. Noah's ability would definitely need to be powerful to contend with the current one. We have so many David's, I can't imagine what another one would looks like. Anyway, I excited to what this next set will bring us and I want to thank the playtesting for their hard work as they create the new cards for us to enjoy. What would you like to see in the new set i.e. characters, themes, and abilities?

Unless they are taking it from the lineage(s) listed in Matthew and Luke and focusing a bit more on the Kings and such. I am just thinking the others have been re-done several times already.

I didn't say I didn't want to see one, I'm just curious what he would be or do lol.

A new direction for the purple brigade Kings would be refreshing. I wonder what would pull people away from using the much beloved throne offense though. A king of Judah defense upgrade would be really cool. A lot of them haven't seen print since the kings and most are off brigade now.

We've still got, like, a dozen different books that reference him and haven't been used for him yet.
I personally can't wait for the Isaiah 37:35 "David, defended by God"

I mean, we haven't even seen David with a sheep yet right?

I'd love to see one with him running off a bear!

I'll stop there, but plenty more to do!  :P

A pure red David would be cool. Dave, the conqueror or something.

David is my second favorite person from the Bible after Jesus, so I would love for more of him printed! Yes either mono red or a four-brigade version (red, white, purple, green) would be awesome!

How about some more Ruth cards? Fits the theme of the set and is an underpowered theme in Redemption

I count 7 instances of the name "David" in card titles in LoC.

More Ruth cards? YES PLEASE!!!

I would like to see any of the following for the next card set:

- Would like to see some more evil brown Kings of Judah printed and all of the older evil Kings of Judah reprinted.

- Would like to see more character cards printed that do not have a theme to them:

examples include  Outsiders  , Outcasts , The afflicted  etc

Especially would be nice to see a few hero cards that are not tied to a theme (example a purple/ green brigade hero but it is not prophet or royalty) and have their own unique special ability

 -More taunt abilities

-More symbolic character cards printed

-More clay cards that can access reserve for the N.T clay themes

- More lower numbered gray roman character cards (example print a few with numbers of 4/4 or less) and more other cards for the gray roman theme

- More character cards created and/or reprinted for the gold Herod theme

- Doubt dominant reprinted with a more useful special ability

- See most of the Zerubabbel's temple priests reprinted

-See Zerubabbel himself get a reprint.

Awesome that it banishes itself! Much better take on those kinds of ability. There's also a Lost Soul spoiled on the Discord.

1000% agree! It also allows you to add different kinds of really strong abilities that become 1 time per game without clunky wording!

Great move elders and play test team!  Such a health conscious idea!

Reprints of the J deck Ruth heroes must be in the new set.

What if they're printing updated starter decks instead?  Gabe was throwing out the # 300 (seemingly in jest) but also said there are the same number of cards in LoC as PoC which I think was 222.  However, if Gabe was being sneaky and jesting at the same time...

7 lost souls per starter = 14
4 doms per starter = 8

Together that is 22 so if there are 222 new LoC cards and 78 new cards printed in updated starters that equals 300.

I will be teaching a 100 level class on how to start rumors in the 2020 spring semester

It’s been my speculation the past few months, with the legacy rare Vain Philosophy and all of the SoG reprints, that new starter decks will be released soon. You made a good point about the numbers adding up for starter deck cards, but I don’t know if the 18 new legacy rares for LoC will be part of the 300. Only time will tell.

3 Point font is way to easy to read bro. ;)

Piggybacking off yesterday's spoiler on Discord, today we get to share a card based on the 300 chariots that accompanied the "Army of a Million Men", a military force that was comprised at least in part by the ancient equivalent of mercenaries.

Hmmm, 300 keeps coming up...

I like how you can "buy" them away from your opponent. Very fitting for mercenaries.
What happens if multiple people want it? Does precedence for who gets to discard and take follow similar rules as dom initiative, with the owner first and then clockwise?
Title: Re: Lineage of Christ speculation
Post by: RedemptionAggie on November 05, 2019, 12:04:12 PM
Same precedence as doms, but the current holder can't take a card they control. And it happens during the battle phase, so it would be opponent, then clockwise for the others. And once someone takes it, it's not in play to be targeted for anyone else.

Since the current holder can't take it, would it be clearer as "an opponent"? "Any player" is there as a TEAMS consideration, but isn't worth making it harder to understand.

Personally, I never cared for the “after battle you make take an enh” style-wording, which was seen on Moabite Marauders. It is confusing language and the players must know the rule that THAT part of a take ability can only be taken by someone who doesn’t already own that card. It’s unnecessary confusion and a nuanced rule overall. My vote is to make this new card, and any subsequent cards with a similar ability, to be worded more clearly and simply.

Right, I keep forgetting that Take only targets cards you don't currently control. I agree with Watchman that this is a source of confusion.

As far as this card in particular goes, my first thought to clarify the ability is "Any other player," though some could take that as "other than opponent whose enhancement was prevented."

You can expect mid to late March (prepare for late March).

Really? For the release date of LoC is a March release 100% certain for this set? or it is possible for late January release? Seems like a long time for a set to come out.

Was there a discussion for this somewhere on the forums or discord?

Rob told me, via email, the other day that he doesn’t expect the cards to be at Cactus and assembled till the middle of March at the soonest.

I have heard this from Gabe as well, he was lamenting that he’ll have to keep using proxies for another 2 months.

Our team got the final graphics to Rob right before the first of the year but I heard that the printer has a rather large backlog.

We could have then all spoiled but then there won't be any surprises when you open packs. ;) ::)

I think most players would like all of them spoiled so we can pre-build decks with PoC until they are released in March. If somebody doesn't  want to be spoiled then they don't have to click or tap. 8)
