Title: Free Internet Chess Server Team League
Post by: NotOfThisWorld66 on June 17, 2009, 07:16:22 PM
Attention all chess players: I am an internet chess player (I haven't made it to a tourney yet), and I am wondering if anyone here would like to join together with me to form a FICS Team on the leagues.  If you have not signed up for FICS, do not worry, as it only takes your first and last name (you'll have to check that, as I'm not sure), your e-mail address, and a username.  FICS will send you your password on the e-mail address you typed in.  Then type in tell team league join on the main console.  Note that you will be committed to play at least once a week unless we can get some substitutes.  I would like some Christian friends to play the team league with.  So anyone who knows me and knows what I believe (you can check out my Christian beliefs in the topics "Beliefs" and "What Theological Points of View are Represented on this Board?") can pm me or post.  So anyone who would like to join me, give me your FICS username, your rating/at what rate you study chess, and we'll be good to go!  Thanks!

Regards,
Eddy

you could just use the chess function on the boards.  That would probably be easier.  But I do like the idea of a formal chess "tournament" similar to ROOT.

Well, FICS is much more formal and is actually a competitive "sports" league.  I would prefer to play formally on FICS.

An announcement!  One person has volunteered, and we will NOT be creating our own team.  Instead, we will join a currently made team.  Our team might be able to use some substitutes in case one person can't make his or her game.  So anyone who would like to be a substitute for our team, feel free to join us!  There are room for probably at the most 2 substitutes.  And don't think that after those spots are filled you don't have a chance.  You can join a team on your own as there are many empty spots.  Maybe I'll be able to play one of you!  Thanks!

Eddy
