Not Redemption Related but wanted to share a praise.
« on: March 31, 2011, 01:32:34 AM »
This semester, I took an A++ (Computer repair) course, learning how to build, maintain, and fix computers. I thought nothing of this until very recently. My mother's computer broke (Power Supply died) and I was able to diagnose, remove, and repair to power supply because I was in that class. Nothing like little miracles.

cool. the shift key and up arrow on my laptop aren't working. you should figure out how to fix it 9i assume it's some mechanical flaw despite not being hit hard or anything spilled on it0 to save me the dollar sign 35 it'll cost to to ship it to the repair center.

hitting it with a hammer and giving it a bath didn't work like lambo suggested. anyone who suggests and external keyboard fails. anyone who suggests i just send it in while it's under warrenty still fails.

It's always awesome when you actually use what you learn in school, especially when it's a money saver.

Nice!  A+ is a great certification to get.  It can also be used to get your foot in the door at a tech shop.

I'm not certified yet, I plan to be, (gotta finish the class first), but the class helped me to do things I didn't know I'd need to be doing. What does it take to get certified btw?

There's two parts to the A+ (It may have changed since I got certified.)  Everyone takes the first half.  There are three second parts, depending on what you want.  All three use the same questions, but focus more on different concepts.
