week 16 headlines

It is now week 16 and a lot of division titles and playoff berths are still being decided.

The two Saturday games were very exciting to watch.  The Eagles' playoff hopes were lowered after their loss to the Redskins.  As a Redskins fan it was nice to see them play a good game and win it as time is running out.  The Chargers kept their playoff hopes alive after their dramatic comeback win in OT.

Some headlines for today is will the Cowboys win the division title today and will DeMarco Murray play well with his broken hand?

Who is going to win the NFC South?  Panthers should easily beat Johnny Football and the Browns.  The Falcons and Saints game will be interesting to watch.

What is going on with the Bears benching Jay Cutler?

A last headline for me is the future of the Cardinals.  They will be starting their fourth QB and have clinched a playoff berth, but not the division title.  The Seahawks and Cardinals game will also be interesting to watch.

It appears that there won't be any blowouts this week. Every game has been close so far.

I do feel bad for the 49ers and Vikings, both of whom had to endure painful 4th quarters.  :o

As a big Vikings fan - it was exciting to see them fight back to get the late lead.  But, as usual they seem to find a way to lose it in the final moments of a game.

The Panthers - Browns game was closer than I thought it would be.  Also, the Lions - Bears game was a very exciting game to watch.

The NFC South still remains an interesting division to watch with the Saints losing and both the Falcons and Panthers winning.

Cannot believe the Ravens lost to the Texans.  I know the Chargers are happy with the lost.

*****Hey!  Where are all the football fans?*****

Anyway, The Colts took it easy on the Cowboys and they were able to clinch their division.

Week 17 Headlines:

1.) Who would have thought that the final game of the season between Atlanta and Carolina (both with losing records) would be for the Division Title.  :o  It kind of reminds me of the NCAA Basketball Tournament where the two teams need to play a game just to be the final 16-seed.  ;)

2.) The remaining AFC slot comes down to three games:
a.) San Diego at Kansas City - If the Chargers win, they are in. If they lose (which is likely on the road in KC) then that opens the myriad of possibilities for other teams. This includes the Chiefs, who need everybody relevant to lose in order for them to get in.
b.) Cleveland at Baltimore - A Chargers loss and a Ravens win gets the Ravens in. In light of the Browns' freefall, I think the Ravens win big at home.
c.) Jacksonville at Houston - The Texans need to win, and have both the Ravens and Chargers lose. The Jaguars are actually capable of the upset, but J.J. Watt against a rookie QB with the playoffs on the line? I think the bloody nose works as well for the Texans as the bloody sock worked for the Red Sox.  ;)

3.) Many teams will be jockeying for playoff position and home-field advantage, except for the Patriots, who already have it all the way through the AFC playoffs. Makes me wonder if we might see Jimmy Garoppolo's first full game. Oh wait, this is Belichick's team.... never mind....  :o

I need the Ravens to win because I picked them in the Super Bowl prediction contest.  The Chargers I had picked to be the Wild card team.

Anyway, week 17 will be exciting.

Maybe Broncos can get home advantage this week.  Payton got confused on Monday night and kept throwing the ball to the wrong guys.   :)
