If I play wonders forgotten to end the battle does my opponent get a lost soul.

Yellow EE 0/4 Select up to four good cards from one player's discard pile and remove them from the game. The battle immeidately ends. Cannot be negated.

If he is beating you, yes. If his offense isn't equal to or greater than your defense, no.

Cards that say "The battle immediately ends" mean that no more cards can be played.  The battle immediately goes to resolution, where you check to see who is winning by the numbers.

That is why Wonders Forgotten is a nice card to use for Gold brigade evil characters because it is an easy way to win the battle when you have Egyptian Horses on a big dude.

Be aware, though, that abilities pending resolution still complete. So if your character gets Converted, then you play Swift Horses and Wonders Forgotten, your character will still get converted and you'll still surrender a soul because you have no blocker.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

But wouldn't Wonders Forgotten complete before the convert?

That is not my understanding, what leads you to this conclusion?

Why wouldn't they? The effect was suspended, but then nothing was done during the suspension to stop it.

Yes there was.  The battle ended before the convert happened.

I agree with the majority that "ending the battle" ends all pending abilities in the battle, except those that specify "after the battle."

So special abilities do not resolve during battle resolution?

I'm fine if that's the case from a gameplay standpoint and it makes my defenses just that much better, but from a logical standpoint I don't get it.

So special abilities do not resolve during battle resolution?

That has always been my understanding, except again those SAs that are designed for Battle Resolution.

This was ruled on when it was determined that your five Assyrian Archers each with Horses could all shoot someone, draw two cards, and play Forgotten History whilst the battle is interrupted and end the battle. It was ruled that all the Archers survive, because the battle ended before their triggered effect was reinstated. Brutal? Yes. Hard to pull off in today's T2 meta? Also yes.

...but from a logical standpoint I don't get it.

The only example that comes to mind right away would be this:

1. My EC plays a capture.
2. Your hero plays Reach, then AoCp.
3. My EC is now gone, so after the interrupt, my capture tries to reactivate, but it cannot since there is no EC to activate on.

In the Forgotten History situation:

1. I play a discard card with my hero.
2. You play Swift Horses and Forgotten History.
3. After the interrupt, my discard tries to reactivate, but it cannot since the battle is over.

Ok, that explanation makes sense. Thanks to YMT for explaining the why, not just restating that that's the ruling.
