Prisoner at Gaza and MoMo the Mighty

Prisoner at Gaza captures himself to my land of bondage and adds Moses to battle.

Prisoner at Gaza is a captured character and neutral alignment. He is also no longer in territory and no longer can be targeted as a normal character per REG entry on captured characters.

Does Gaza stay captured and I keep my card of matching brigade from reserve?

The REG also states that "Heroes become captured Heroes and Evil Characters become captured Evil Characters."

I'd rule that since the captured hero is still in play, Moses would negate PaG's SA (since it occurred in the same phase) and thus cascade Moses out of battle, put your OT card back into the reserve and keep your PaG as the rescuing hero.

Yes

REG
Captured characters retain their identifiers and brigades, but may only be targeted as captured characters.

As a captured character it has no SA to negate. The Hero/EC SA does not transfer to the the "lost soul" and will not be negated.

Why, then, is that line I quoted in the REG that says a captured Hero/EC is a captured Hero/EC?  Seems to me to a be a bit of a contradiction if it no longer has alignment, is not considered a hero/EC while captive, treated as neutral, etc.  Maybe it should be worded something like "captured Heroes and ECs become captured characters," then explain further about captured humans/non-humans.  I guess I'm just missing something.

And verifying if a card like Medium in Endor has a conditional CBP, if King Saul (either alignment) is captured in someone's LoB would that still count for her CBP modifier to work?  I'd say yes as he is still King Saul.

The REG line is there to distinguish that a "captured Hero" cannot be targeted by a card by targets a Hero and the same for a captured EC. AKA, I cannot play Christian Martyr on a captured Hero to stop you from rescuing it. Captured humans are treated as a Lost Soul and therefore have a neutral alignment. They retain their name, identifiers and brigades. A captured King Saul is still King Saul for cards that look for King Saul. For example, Herod Agrippa I could still discard a captured James, because he's still James and it doesn't specify that he has to be a Hero.

Wouldn’t James not be targetable since he’s considered a lost soul, and per game rule lost souls can’t be targeted unless an ability specifically states that a lost soul can be targeted?

Captured characters are not lost souls, they are captured characters.

REG

Land of Bondage

A player’s Land of Bondage is located in that player’s territory, and it is where the Lost Souls (including captured characters that are considered Lost Souls) that the player controls reside.

Capture

While in a Land of Bondage, a captured human is a Lost Soul as well as a captured character.

Interesting, thanks for correcting me. Has this ever not been the case or did I just learn wrong?

As far as I knew it's always been that way all the way back to the first set.

It targets James by name. That’s not specific enough?

It does seem like it would but I’m just asking to make sure given how some rules have exceptions, etc, particularly with how the lost souls (and characters that are treated as LSs) are treated/targeted.
