Hunter Lost Soul - When to Shuffle?

Hey guys,

So the new lost soul "hunter" reads:
If drawn (or put in play by an opponent's special ability), you may take an O.T. Lost Soul from a deck to territory to shuffle this card.

The "a deck" is what is throwing me.

If I draw this, can I search opponents deck for an OT Lost Soul and put it into play in their territory or does it go into mine?

If I can take it from their deck and put it into their territory where is the card shuffled? My deck or theirs? If it's theirs, it'd be super easy to tell where the lost soul is because of the sleeve, etc.

If I take their lost soul and put it into my territory then shuffle Hunter into my deck...the opponent has one less lost soul in their deck to draw to their territory.

How is this ability supposed to be played? And is their a strategy around it?

Thanks!

Great question me and my friend have been discussing this for a while now.

Take means it goes to your territory not your opponents, but yes you can take an Old Testament lost soul from your deck or your opponent's deck.

Your hunter lost soul will be shuffled back into your deck whichever deck you choose to take a lost soul from.

The more common way I use the lost soul is to just get another Old Testament lost soul out of my deck that would help me out.

Another good strategy would be if you know your opponent has a really good Old Testament lost soul that you don't want them to have you could take it. But of course this does give you one less lost soul to win. But with all the new capture Heroes in FoM lost souls shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Jeremy is correct on all counts - including the intended strategy of stealing a strong LS from the opponent even though it gives you an extra.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

It’s good for stealing Souls that can be troublesome for certain decks (like Punisher or Vindicated) or steal things that can really help you (like Wanderer)
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

That's awesome guys - thank you for the explanation!

Another question that came up this weekend - If I'm playing someone that I don't know their deck and decide to search it and there's no OT Souls or non worth taking what happens then?
Can I shuffle their deck and then look through mine for a soul or decide not to use the ability at all? Or once I've gone through their deck or mine has the "decision" of who's deck is being "taken" from made and that's, that.
Thanks!

PS, what is "Wanderer" and "Vindicated" (couldn't find it in the Orcid)

You usually get to search one location, and either find a target or not. There may be some cards that allow you to search multiple locations, but I can't recall any right now.

Wanderer is probably Exchanger in ORCID (in Priests), and Vindicated is in Fall of Man which isn't in ORCID yet.
