confused languages

confused language:...prevent and ignore opponents characters of opposite alignment (except those of matching brigade to another character that player controls)

so lets say I have brown/crimson outsiders and medium of endor (brown/pale green) in territory.  are they both ignored because they both have a brigade not in play, or are they both not ignored because they share a brigade?  just want to make sure I understand the wording correctly

Neither is ignored. AFAIK, "matching" has always meant two cards share a brigade.
