Title: CBN with Exception and Blanket CBN for same card?
Post by: Sean on April 25, 2019, 10:57:46 AM
I have The Foretelling Angel in my territory.  I block with Prince of Persia (Di).  Does the CBN on tFA 'negate' the CBN+unless on PoP?

The Foretelling Angel
"...Daniel Characters cannot be negated..."

Prince of Persia
"...Cannot be negated unless Daniel is in play."

I think that fortellig angel would make him CBN because PoP is a seperate ability from tFA

It essentially gives him another layer of cbn. Another example of this is Stephen (makes acts enhancements cbn) playing praise from prison (acts enhancement, cbn against a roman) against a non roman. PoP’s ability doesn’t mean he can’t be cbn, it just means that he doesn’t make himself cbn anymore.

This is a good example of characters having interesting interactions when they are made "fully CBN".  PoP, when made CBN by Foretelling Angel, can't be negated by anything, even though his original ability provides a way to do so.

Another similar example is The Judean Mediums banding to Trembling Demon when the opponent has used a Draw or Search.  TJM makes TD CBN, even though TD's ability allows the opponent a way to discard a GE from hand to negate TD.  Well, the opponent is still able to discard a GE to try and negate TD - in fact, they have the CBN right to do so - but that still isn't able to negate TD's now-CBN protection of LS.
