Magicians are definitely not underused, at least as far as I've seen. Same with Emperors. Evil Israelites really isn't a theme at all right now. Other than that, I agree with this list (except for the fact that the word Assyrians has been tortured and mutilated beyond recognition outside of context).

Anyway, here's a final list of the themes I think should be used:

Deacons
Daniel Heroes
Musicans
Non-SA Heroes
Warriors
Apostles
Non-ZT Priests

Sadducees
Persians
Judean Kings
Syrians
Assyrians
Herods
Greeks

And I think the matchups between brigades should be determined before the games are played, and one set of themes should be assigned to each player. For example, Warriors and Syrians should probably go with each other, etc. No more characters that are not from the specific theme can be in the deck than there are theme-specific characters in that brigade (meaning that if I have three blue and one purple deacon in my deacon deck, I can only put one more purple hero in the deck, but I can put up to three non-deacon blue characters in).

Take out Assyrians and Syrians and you're good. Also, just as clarification you can use judean queens as well.

Seriously, Assyrians are good. And used a LOT, especially here in So Cal. I will not give a pack to someone using Assyrians.

Well A Jehu's dynasty is limited, and B is encompassed in Israelite kings.

Ideally, this is the best. But by now we can pretty much get the same result with what we have from you guys anyway.

I never said Pharisees were a norm, just that they weren't underused as far as I have seen (which I forgot to mention is a quite limited viewpoint). I also never said that Emperors were underused. In fact, I said the opposite here.

As for taking out Syrians, I do not see why. I have never, ever, seen a Syrian defense used in a tournament by someone with two digits in their age (besides myself once). I hardly ever see Assyrians either, but them more often for sure. Maybe Pharisees would be a better choice, and Demons as well.

Well, your definition for the phrase "all the time" is more strict than mine. "All the time" for me just means "a lot." And BTW, I never see Pharisees by themselves; they always have Emperors or Sadducees or Demons with them.

Perhaps "norm" then is the arbitrarily defined word. I define norm (at least in this case specifically) as being used more than any other theme, which Pharisees certainly is not.

Ah, Naw. I define Norm by something I can count on seeing within a tournament. If 1/4th of the players use pharisees, I have a high chance of hitting a pharisee deck then.
