RTS for Mac?

Is there an RTS version for Mac or how do I use RTS on a Mac?
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

the current versions do not work on macs unless you are emulating windows, even then im not sure it works

okay, I heard about people w/ macs using RTS, does anyone w/ a mac know how to do that?
Or do I need to emulate windows?

RTS only runs on the Windows OS, so the only way to get RTS on a Mac is to put Windows on the Mac. You can do this by installing Windows as a second OS (via Boot Camp), or Virtualizing Windows (via Parallels or VMWare). Emulating Windows with Wine may be possible, but remains untested.

So does anyone know how effective it is to emulate RTS/CEC on a Mac?
Because my brother says that the emulators are really slow.

It can only be done with an Intel based Mac.  Look into Parallels, or if you're tech oriented, Boot Camp.

What do you think it would take to get things going for a mac design wise? I imagine we have some pretty techy people running around maybe?

Me to be able to afford taking that much time away from the rest of my work, a Mac to test it on, and maybe some cupcakes too.

This doesn't solve the issue of, I still can't take time away from the projects I'm getting paid to do. I have bills to pay, and it's been made clear that no one would be willing to pay for a new RTS, except for one guy who said he'd be willing to pay for it on Mac. It's not that I am so greedy I would demand money for it, if I can afford to do it for free then I will, but the fact is I just can't right now.

Blah blah trying to run a business blah blah bad economy blah

To be honest, you'd be better off designing/building it yourself.

Well, I understand completely. Will work on that grant, people in Alabama get money for some crazy stuff, let's see what we can get.

Get me $2500 and I can garuntee it by the end of september. it would be less but I'd have to buy a mac to build it on and mac sure it actually works and those are expensive.

If this weren't a Christian gaming website I would include a graphic reference to what they can do if they expect me to pay that.

I know it's $99 a year to sell on the iOS App Store.  I heard something along the same lines for OSX.

we've already established people won't pay for this so why would i put it in the store? just distribute it as freeware

I don't know specifics.  You're the one who wants to program it.

Before you start on a coding project, you may want to get approval from Rob to use the images/text/etc. that are copyright Cactus.

It's going to be awhile before I have time for something like this. Like a long while. Probably not at least until winter break and more then likely not until next summer, assuming I actually get anything accomplished this time. As some of you may remember I was supposed to be building a new version of RTS for windows this summer and unveiling it at Nats. Considering Nats is less then a week away, and I'm not even going, that's not going to happen.

It's really cool that people are at least discussing making a Mac version of RTS.

I would like to get a program for my mac so I can play w/ the others too.

I'm just saying you might want to check before even starting. My understanding was the Redemption Live! was supposed to be *the* RTS replacement and that Redemption Live! would be the only such project going forward with Rob's blessing.

If someone gets Rob's blessing and is thinking about moving forward on this, PM me.  I would be happy to code pretty much anything and/or provide any auxiliary development support the project might need.

Also if you are interested in moving forward you may want to look at building a Redemption plugin for Lackey CCG (http://www.lackeyccg.com). That would be something that would not require actual "development" development.

If anyone has an old Mac they are about to get rid of, if you could donate it that will speed up the process a bit. Macs are expensive, and until I get one I can't begin work on a Mac version of RTS

If I had a $200 EIF chip sure, but without one I can't emulate a Mac environment close enough to know it would work on real Macs.
