As for cost... I heard it will be something like you buy a collection of cards on the site. You can buy packs or individual cards, obviously WAY cheaper than buying a real pack or a real don. But it's a great investment, once you have that card you can use it, in any and all deck.
And can you "trade" these "Redemption Live" cards?

Absolutely.  The plan is to mirror real world Redemption in every way (except the cost).  My impression is that the plan is to allow people to buy, sell and trade single cards if they wish.

You won't be required to use Redemption Live!, but you may find the free tools (like the Deck Editor, Card Browser, Collection Tracker) are pretty helpful.

And when it comes to playing online tournaments or just playing Booster Draft, Teams, or Multi-Player will add things that RTS just can't really do. Also, I really hope that it'll be much faster to play games on Redemption Live! than it is through RTS.

I like hearing everyone's thoughts on the subject. It can help shape what Redemption Live! becomes before it's even released.

I think it's a great idea to have the cards be the "cost" for RL. (New abbr., yay! :D)

I hope Storehouse credit can cover some of the expenses in the future. BTW, does Redemption cash have UPC's on it? :P

Trust me guys... you'll want to play. All I'm probably going to do is buy my deck and use that for every year... it won't cost very much at all.

Well, you might get the cards in boosters you win in an online tournament. You might borrow them out of one of the other decks you've made. You might get a gift certificate for your birthday. Someone might trade them to you. You could keep the cards that you use in a Booster Draft event. The possibilities are almost endless.

Actually, this is the breaking point for me. If I had to pay a yearly fee (or perhaps even a monthly fee), I would probably consider paying for the service. But I can't justify buying all the cards again to play on-line (especially since all I'm really interested in is type-1 2-player and I can get that from RTS). I have a ton of physical cards, and aside from having to buy them all again, I don't know if I could justify spending money if I don't have a physical object to show for what I spent. So if this is the method of Redemption Live, I'll probably just stick with RTS.

What if there were a "test garage" where you could build a deck, get percentages and stats about it, see how it draws out ect, and then decide to buy it or not?

Or alternatively, you could probably trade some of your physical cards to someone for their extra online cards as another way to get them without having to "pay" anything.

I honestly don't know how many of those work with my deckbuilding style. I tend to try and make underused cards usable, meaning, I end up using a huge mix of cards.  :-\

That should make it extremely easy for you.  Underused cards are worth a fraction of what the most sought after cards are worth.  In fact, they're the type of cards that people often skoff at and give away. ::)

Ehhh, I still dislike having to pay anything if I don't even know if the deck will work.  :-\

I wouldn't mind it at all if it worked where, you could get it for free and have all the same functionality of RTS, but then you could pay and get all the multiplayer, booster draft, and other game modes.

I'm not sure this would solve anything, unless I could keep the on-line cards that I redeem for physical cards. If I couldn't, then I'm right back where I started in only buying the physical cards and not the on-line versions.

56x.5 = 28 dollars, or $56 for a T2 deck. I think $0.50 would even be far too much.

The whole card list as is would cost you over $1000.

If it is a one time payment for the whole program, like $30-$40... I may get it.
If it is a subcription based fee or per card... then you all will have to enjoy it without me.

Before I knew RTS2 was coming out I thought that a great idea for Rob would be to offer an online redemption where you could buy e-cards at insane prices (2-3 cents for commons 5 cents for uncommons, and up to 50 cents for rares.  you could even have "redemption codes" for online cards in the blanks when you buy a pack ( say ecah pack comes with 2 free online commons and an online rare/UR redemption code)  You could even redeem wrappers for onine cards at a reduced rate.

I think these would be great ideas for the new online card system.  If they did this, I think they should still have a small fee for monthly play (say a premium add on toolbar for $3-5 a month) but it would also fix the problem of Plot abuse if you had to keep buying onine plots to take the place of the ones you ripped in games.

I'll join you two on RTS :).

I will most likely never play Redemption Live since it will cost something (especially if it cost per card).  I am too casual to devote the money for ones and zeros and without actually having the cards in rl, the little money I have will not be able to help my playgroup or help in tournaments.  I understand that it does have to cost so don't think I'm against the cost.  I have given up online games that cost money to play (who knows how many hundreds of dollars I've used to play COX (which now I don't even play anymore and have almost nothing to show for it)) and rarely play online due to it taking time away from my lovely wife :).  Anyways, I hope it's a great success but I will remain on RTS  (especially since the main reason I use RTS is to make a deck and then figure out which cards I need to get to have that deck in rl.
