Title: Problems with rts
Post by: bballer54 on May 09, 2013, 07:53:39 PM
every time i open rts, i get two errors. the first:
"this error occurred in "form activate": Line number 40: (err#481): Invalid picture (originated with RTS)"
i click ok, then it still opens up the simulator.
whenever i try to connect to a game, i get this: "this error occurred in "winsock" (err#10061) Connection is forcefully rejected (originated with c:\windows\SysWow64\MSWINSCK.ocx)"
and it fails to connect.
When i host, it says: listening, but it never finds som1, ive left it on for over a day.

Any ideas on how to fix?

Also, how do i get the new cards on there?

Thanks! ;D

Looks like you are missing some steps from your set-up.  There are some files you need to download, start with this post (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/rtsonline-play/**the-official-redemption-table-simulator-(rts)-user-guide-**/msg185304/#msg185304), and go from there.

Surprised you got it open without one of those files ;) Never worked for me until I did all the steps.

If you don't have the 2011 set, see this post (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/rtsonline-play/rts-full-program-and-all-updates/).  The 2013 set will be released on 5/15/13 :)

This error is normal. It's a bug in the original code. It doesn't mean anything important. Click OK and everything still works.

Games in RTS do not automatically happen like you're probably used to with more modern applications. There is no server with a queue of people waiting to play each other. It sure would be nice if there was! :)

Instead, we arrange to play a person who's currently available and looking for a game. The best way to find that person is often the shout box (aka Trumpet Blast!) on this forum. You can also join the ROOT league and have scheduled games with people weekly through that system.

Once you find another person who's available to play, most players use Hamachi to connect to one another. This eliminates the hassel of being behind routers and firewalls. You can also connect to one another directly (without Hamachi) if you have a public IP address or are familiar with how to forward a port on your router.

Please read post #6 in this thread (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/rtsonline-play/**the-official-redemption-table-simulator-(rts)-user-guide-**/) for specific information about connecting to one another.
