RTS background pic won't load

Hey, I was an avid RTS'r a few years ago... my wife and I just busted out the cards again recently and started playing. made me wanna get back to online play. I followed lambo's install guide, and everything works fine except...

 "This error occurred in 'Form_activate' Line number 40: err#481 Invalid picture (originated with RTS)."

That's the error I get when I open RTS, the program loads fine - I'm able to view cards, build decks, I just don't have a background to play on. Neither pic loads, the original or the HD background.

Welcome back, I remember back when you were around :)

Have you tried "Options" - "Background" - "Reset to Default"?

For the record, that error is one that everyone gets, and it doesn't hinder the usability of the program at all.
