I guess the correct term I should have used would be LEVELING system.

I think a formula should be used that incorporates several different criteria:

1) Poll of all former and current tournament hosts and playgroup leaders.
2) Poll of people who do not play the game but like to write about it.
3) An average computer ranking comprised of at least three separate computer polls.

I really believe this new and innovative idea would work great to determine who's the best.
That was funny.

This is a great idea.

How about a regular season (like a monthly ROOT tourney) and then take those seedings and have a playoff?

I like the idea of having ROOT work with Redemption Live to come up with rankings (for those who want to be ranked), and to have Redemption Live have "achievements" built into it.

Some ideas for these "achievements" would include:
- Building a legal deck
- Playing a game online  (10 games, 100 games, 1000 games)
- Saving a LS (10 LS, 100 LS, 1000 LS)
- Getting higher than 20 strength in a battle
- Getting higher than 20 toughness in a battle
- Playing more than 3 enhancements in a battle (5 enhs, 7 enhs)
- Hitting the max number of cards in hand (16)
- Beating an opponent with a ranking higher than 1000 (rankings could come from ROOT)
- Teaching opp something new (could be a button that opp pushes after a game)
- Being a good sport (could also be a button that opp pushes after a game)

- Saving a LS (10 LS, 100 LS, 1000 LS) -5000 LS, (since we have a 1000 games)
- Getting higher than 20 strength in a battle -make one 35-50 for both of these. Tin I
- Getting higher than 20 toughness in a battle
- Playing more than 3 enhancements in a battle (5 enhs, 7 enhs)
- Hitting the max number of cards in hand (16) -twice per game, three times per game
- Beating an opponent with a ranking higher than 1000 (rankings could come from ROOT)
I also like jtay's things in the game variations thread. We could use some of those too. I like it.

This should defiantly be incorporated.

Whoa! You mean there is a limit? Even if you have 3 cards that let you draw 3 and you already have 8, you can still only have 16?

Actually, you could have 8 cards in your hand, play 3 draw 3 cards, and still be under the hand limit. (8-1+3-1+3-1+3=14) But if you have 11, RA with Hur + Gifts, then you can only have 16, so you'd only get to draw 5.

I automatically hate that rule (although I've never had 16 in my hand before XD).

I had been thinking about ways to have RedemptionLive! automatically score(rank) players based upon their performance in "official" games (tournament play plus games played for ranking, but not games for fun or for testing deck ideas). Things like the quality of the competition or measurable things that happen during a game. Do any of you have specific suggestions of formulas or measurable aspects of a game that could be used as part of a ranking system?
From experience with ROOT, Glicko 2 does a reasonable* job of ranking players.

*Reasonable means that it provides fairly stable rankings that do a fairly decent job of predicting future matches.

Wasn't there a thread a while ago about an achievement-based gametype?  Can't find it...

I don't think meeting certain achievements has anything to do with ranking a player's skill level. It might be something cool to do for fun, but shouldn't be used for a real rankings system in my opinion.

I think that's the general consensus.  I would love to have achievements in Live!, as long as they're not connected to anything.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. More like an added benefit, but not really used as far as rankings.

Yeah, that's cool with me. Come up with super crazy combos for achievements. Also could have a individual rankings just for achievements.

I'm guessing the first stage will be done before the end of February. Who knows when we'll be able to play games though.

Forgive me if this has been discussed, but what will the cost of this program be for users?

Forgive my laziness, but I'd rather not dig through 9 pages for information. Can anyone provide a very basic list of what's been confirmed? (Possible release dates, features, etc.)
