Title: 32 Person Hamachi Network
Post by: Warrior_Monk on August 11, 2013, 08:06:54 PM
So I'm in a fantastic Hamachi group called Portland, OR right now, consisting of Chris Ericson, Jay Chambers, John Earley, Alex Olijar, and myself, and I've never had a problem finding a game to play. However, I frequently heard at nationals the complaint that it's so hard to find a game on RTS. We started talking and it seems there was an obvious solution: pay for Hamachi.

It is $29 a year to pay for a 32 person Hamachi Network. If we find 29 people willing to pay $1 a year for RTS, I will create a network and PM everybody who pays a password and network name.

Please post here or PM me if you're interested. $1 a year is seriously no big deal, and it would make everything much easier.

Yes, if we get a full 32 people there will be $3 left over. I'm not totally sure what I'll do with that.

I'm in. If there's not enough interest to get to 29, I'll pay $2 to use both my computers.

You should take submissions for a network name and then you original members can vote on one.

I suggest "The Van"  ;D

You do realize Matt that the majority of the play here will be t1. Granted ill play some t2 with you but most participants look to be primarily t1 players

I'm in and I'm down with Justin on the whole suggest a name thing.

How about ReMeGa? Obviously short for redemption meta gaming

Besides myself, if Prof A can get his RTS working, I'm sure he'll be in for both T1 and T2. Hobbit, RTSManiac, and maybe even Slugfencer might also be interested and are T2 players so if we actually reach 29-32 players, I'm sure at least 8-10 will be interested in T2 from time to time.

Wow, a few hours and it's already 1/3 full! I've had several promises to pay more than $1, and I myself would be willing to contribute, so this will definitely happen.

As far as names go, I was thinking something lame like The Redemption Table Simulator Official Network, but feel free to throw out ideas. I would love to name it after RMG, but I believe this is a community effort, not just me and Alex, so I want to give it to the community.

He didn't ask me. We're calling it Redemption MetaGaming and he doesn't get a say because I'm like 7 inches taller and one year older.

;)

I think giving a community wide shout out to you guys is cool and actually opens the door for creating online play groups like this that you guys could suggest using to players who watch/subscribe to RMG.  This is a great way to tap into the 21st century (aka networking), when it comes to building the online community and player bases world wide.  That dude in Alaska that found RMG would now have somewhere to go he knows he can play, learn and grow as a player.

I can easily be number 29, I just don't want to kick someone out who would want to play more often than me :P (hasn't played an RTS game since 2007).

Once we hit 20 people I'll create the network and send out a PM with the Paypal and Network information.

Normally, I'm not a player of online Redemption games, but I know that I need to play more if I want to learn more and test new decks.  Also, as an almost exclusive T2 player, I could join the apparently small group that is interested for that.

You can put me down similar to Brad, I will play online, but not daily like some of you crazy people ;) If you get too many excited people that will play constantly, I'll jump out.

I'm in for this.  Now that school and eyes are no longer in the way, I was thinking about playing on RTS again the last few weeks.

Kirk

Redemption was a dirty word between my wife and I but I explained how I needed a competitive outlet after not wrestling anymore and she understood that. She had been a great volleyball player and misses competing. This comparison worked for me. My wife was very happy for me to even get to go to nats and with some balance she even supports me now.

Sorry it's going that way for you.  I hope a result can come that doesn't involve you leaving the game.
It was great to meet you at nats, hope to see you again.

I am in, and am willing to pay more than $1 to make this happen.

Also, I'm trying to learn T2, so I'd be willing to play T2 as well.

You should get the premium network subscription. Then every active Redemption player could get a dedicated connection or two.

And the Lord said, "Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them..." (Genesis 11:6-7)
