Proxy or custom cards are not tournament legal

(1/4) > >>

CactusRob:
Most players were probably never aware that there was an option to use custom cards in Redemption tournaments.  In fact, several elders on the boards have ruled over the years that they are not tournament legal.  Nevertheless, some tournament hosts have allowed them in the past.  It was not a well known rule and I regret there has been some confusion about it.  The ruling exception that I conceded to was that custom cards were allowed at the tournament hosts discretion provided the player owned a real copy of the card, that wasn't also being used in the tournament, and that could be produced on request.

Most players never used custom or proxy cards so it was rarely relevant.  Even so, I realized at National's last year that opponents were put at a disadvantage if the person they were playing was using customized cards that looked different from what they were used to seeing.  To avoid confusion and frustration, I am once and for all disallowing custom cards.

The rule is: only official Redemption cards published by Cactus Game Design will be legal for tournament play.  Proxy cards (regardless of how closely they might resemble a true Redemption card) are not legal for tournament play.

Thank you for your understanding.

Blessings,
Rob Anderson

The Guardian:
As awesome as custom cards can be (especially when well done) I agree that this is a good decision for official tournament play.

That being said, by all means use those sweet custom cards in non-tournament games!  8)

*Edit* And give your opponent some grace if he needs extra time or makes a mistake due to not recognizing a custom card.

Thank you for this decision!

Lol, just when I got a sweet looking borderless Fearless Traveler. Oh well. Glad there is an official ruling now!

Realizing that it wasn't the standard blows me away. I'm very glad to have this set in stone.
