A friend of mine was curious if anyone would be interested in purchasing his original artifacts we were give to test play the new card type back in the dark ages before artifact piles existed. .

Kind of price is he looking for?  It's hard to offer anything spectacular because it looks like these can easily be replicated and there is no form of authenticity.  (Although I'm sure they are).

I've also got a ton of playtesting cards from back in the stone ages, mostly Pats through tin era stuff. Good times with the original version of a New Beginning. I remember when Bryon got C/D playtesting stuff it was in full color! That was pretty cool!

Those play testing cards are only worth what someone will pay for them. Neat pieces of history without much value.

I have no idea what he wants.
Because I was getting back Into the game. I think he was seeing if he could sell these to help purchase newer cards to play.

As far as provenance, I might be able to get a letter from Doug gray or rob to verify this piece of redemption history.

That would prob add to the value.  I might be more willing to trade cards as well if he wants cards and you can get some verification.

SEB, is that particular set of playtest cards the same one that Chris Bany had on Covenant Games for eons? I feel like I remember him selling them at one point or giving them away or something like that... If it is you could probably get a letter from Chris Bany also.

Image is kinda small on the Covenant Games website, but looks like they could be pretty similar.

To answer a lot of questions...

The Artifact cards Keith is selling for Ben are from the same printing as that sold to Chris Bany. Rob sent me the printed cards and I photocopied them for my playgroup and attached them to old Redemption cards. I want to say no more than 8 sets exist on the white paper from my playgroup. Chris ended up with my set. I also included the same cards in the Blazing Sword Newsletter. The cards could be cut out and affixed to Redemption cards. Those card sets would be a bright, goldenrod yellow. I want to say no more than twenty of those sets in existence.

Now, can these be easily faked? Yes, especially from a copy of the white set. Can I vouch that Ben had a set? Yes I can. Are these mostly likely original? Absolutely.

This conversation sent me up to the attic to dig in my Rubbermaid Redemption container containing some of my most prized Redemption momentos to see if I still had the artifact paper. I was unable to find one.

KEITH, since this post sent me running down memory lane, please tell Ben I might be willing to TRADE these cards for his set of artifacts. I would even consider throwing in the ultra rare Rob Anderson card.  ;D Hope you enjoy the trip back to Alive.

Doug

Jeremy,

Are you kidding me? You still have the blazing sword ones? Thanks for posting I had completely forgotten about the revised set. How my mind is slipping on these details. Those things were printed 20 years ago.

Well I'm a collector so I try to keep everything intact even for 20 years lol I still have all the Blazing Sword newsletters. I also have the newsletters before the Blazing swords from 1997. We had problems with redirect all the way back then if you look under the frequently asked questions.

Jeremy,

Thanks again for posting. I haven't seen one of Dominick's original newsletters in forever. Do you have them all? I sold my set a while ago. He ran the "official" newsletter, while my Blazing Sword was fan based. What else do you have that is unique? One thing you might ask around about is one of the original collector cases.

"No more power hungry decks where Repentance, Baggage, Authority and Furnace, rule the table ..."

Haha I got a good laugh out of that. Good times...

I remember a while back (almost 8 years ago now... woof), here on the forums and in my playgroup, I started a bit of a retro Redemption format where we played a sort of block format. Like only being able to use cards printed from 1997 and earlier, Warriors and earlier, Pats and earlier, ect. It was a blast from the past playing like that again!

Doug

I have a Year's worth October 1997 until September 1998 I'm not sure how long it ran I think I have them all though. I think I had the original case back in the day but it got old and the sticker came off so I got rid of it. I have letters from Rob and Tim Moloney, I have the original board game the city of bondage, I have Solomon's Temple board game which had Promos in it, I have 4 uncut sheets of cards original and Prophets, I have the official player's guide that David easterling wrote signed, I have the original instruction booklet both versions along with order forms, I also have Redemption Awards back when he sent them out when you won a tournament.

I didn't know they made Redemption cash unless you're referring to the Three Lions and then yes. I forgot all about having that.

Well if my memory is right...

There were two periods with Redemption cash... eons ago in the early 2000's Rob tried a thing where he would send "Redemption cash" instead of packs for prizes... but I don't think that lasted more then a year. And then Cactus tried Redemption cash again around maybe 2007? or 2008?... I can't remember anymore...

I remember the first ones being printed on these small green cards and then the second iteration of Redemption cash was just printed out on backs of cut out strips of the Flaming Sword posters!

I'm almost positive Redemption cash was a thing because that's how I bought one of those hip coooool Grab Bags, on the Cactus website, when they first came out! I still use the box from that thing for my decks.

Somebody should start a Redemption museum where everyone can post their unique items they have picked up over the years.

And Jeremy, you have a really nice collection.
