I feel like teal is the new clay - it's been getting so many tools that perhaps this year it will reach the point of being top-tier!

You don't even know.  :o

Fun fact, I remember a month or two ago there was a cbn teal battle winner that was on the set list. Can confirm though, it's not being printed  ;D

Teal will likely be more like the new pre RoJ silver. Plenty of tools and flexibility for various color combinations but really hard to play on it's own. With all the good multi color stuff that features teal it's likely just going to be better to run a teal splash imo. Just my thoughts though.

Oh wow. Yes I've been hearing about some amazing teal cards yet to be revealed...and already there's been some great cards seen like the captive priest!

I wish it was even close to comparable to clay but its not. Nothing in teal is close to Justin package and the sheer quality of clay enhancements.

I’m not saying it on par with JM but Dutiful Priest+Tabernacle+Gifts and Offerings is just as effective.

If by just as effective you mean precisely half as effective even after disregarding the huge increase in setup cost, sure. It also really needs Eleazar to actually turn Tabernacle into enhancement card advantage.

Literally all you need to draw is either Patmos or Angel from the Sun and suddenly you get 5 cards from your deck plus an enhancement from reserve. 1 card setup -> 6 card advantage.

Your teal version requires you to draw 3 cards naturally and then all you get is 2 cards from your deck and plus an enhancement from Reserve. 3 (really 4) card setup -> 3 card advantage.

It's literally triple setup for half the payoff. The one bonus Teal might have had is the option of recursion but the Justin package even has that too.

Not to mention that those 6 cards from Justin will include only the best enhancements picked from the most stacked enhancement selection in Redemption while the 3 cards from the Tabernacle combo come from a brigade who is overjoyed at the sight of a card that simply can consistently remove an Evil Character.

I know it's because the vast majority of current power level sets have been clay focused and teal will be getting its share of current power level cards next year but at this moment any comparison between these brigades is laughable.

That’s a nicely skewed perspective to make your argument sound good.

If you applied the same effort to the other side I bet you could make it sound like JM is terrible.  ;D

I will admit I tend to gravitate toward extremes but my choice and placement of adverbs is about the only rhetoric my previous post contains. The actual information presented and the argument it supports isn't less accurate because of that. I was very excited to make a Tabernacle deck after Nats and built it around exactly the combo you suggest here but it just didn't hold up.

Even if you level the payoff side of the playing field (An extremely generous thing to do towards your side), the Justin package has two cards it can draw where either one constructs the rest of the package all on it's own. The Teal package requires you to have at minimum two unique cards on the table and one unique card in hand before the fun starts.

The worst thing I can say about the Justin package is that if you want to guarantee having a battle winner in hand you *only* get 3 card advantage instead of 6 ;)

Love the border of this card!  Is it bad that when I look at the cards the first few times, I'm doing solely that?  I'm looking at how they appeal to the eye (no pun intended), then a few times in I actually remember that there is words on there somewhere!

Regarding Teal, I was just thinking that it has gotten some awesome cards in the last few sets, and just like from the introduction of clay in Early Church, each set was making it more and more formidable, that's what's happening with teal too. I'm not sure that Teal is yet on the level of clay, but look at what's it got recently:

RoJ - Every Tribe, Priests of Christ, Ark of the Covenant, The Tabernacle (@Nats)

CoW - Dutiful Priests, Gifts and Offerings, Melchizedek, Aaron’s Staff

PC - Eleazar, Son of Aaron

On top of what they already had, such as:

Phineas + Zeal, Temple Priests + Ram’s Horn, Pentecost, Eli’s Sound Advice, Scapegoat, Temple Dedication, Holy Unto the Lord, Burning Incense, Eli the Priest

And now with FoM they’re getting Captive Priest and Eye for an Eye, both of which look really impressive. And yet I've heard that the best teal stuff has yet to be revealed!!  :o

Imo, teal is getting really really good!

Question: if Taskmaster reveals a Soul (which goes in play instead of being discarded) does he still get to play?

The Lost Soul would go in play.
Unless a card specifically says it can target a Lost Soul Card for discard it cannot discard Lost Souls.

Yeah, I get that. What I'm asking is how that game rule interacts with his ability "Otherwise (i.e. if the top card isn't a hero), discard it and you may play an evil Exodus enhancement." If he reveals a soul does he get to play an enhancement?

Literally all you need to draw is either Patmos or Angel from the Sun and suddenly you get 5 cards from your deck plus an enhancement from reserve. 1 card setup -> 6 card advantage.

This is a somewhat misleading description.  You are assuming that JM was blocked, granted inish (no Doms played by opponent), GEs aren't prevented, and Blood of the Lamb doesn't get negated.  And even if all this happens, Blood of the Lamb is played and no longer in your hand, so you've overstated your card advantage by 1.

This is not an argument that the JM engine is on par with Dutiful Priest/etc. - I still think the JM engine is superior.  Also, you didn't mention that starting with Patmos pulls an extra card from deck, since it searches out AftS.

All of those things apply equally to both the Teal and Justin packages.

Blood of the Lamb is played and no longer in your hand, so you've overstated your card advantage by 1.

Just because you played the card doesn't mean it isn't part of the card advantage. It's going to trade for an opponent's enhancement and since you got it for free, the trade is a -1 card advantage for the opponent and can be safely rolled into the calculations as a + 1 for you instead.

I would also add that Tabernacleis easier to disrupt. While most decks have more ways to deal with Justin, there are also several ways to get him back (or heal him), allowing him to continue doing what he does. This also applies to Dutiful Priest, but there's also Tabernacle to consider. Although it's much harder to deal with, especially if it's been Gloried (though let's be honest, almost every deck will be running R&D, at least to start out with), it's also much harder to get back when it has been dealt with (Glory being the only recur I can think of right now).
ANB is good. Change my mind.
