The card generally accepted as the "best" is actually a very common one; son of god.

Next to the Son of God dominant the *single card that has probably redeemed the most lost souls is The Strong Angel.

(*New Jerusalem saves a lot of lost souls but must be played with Son of God.)

Hi and thanks for all the replies, they are very helpful. I am from Lancaster, OH. I'm working on my master's of theology in seminary right now. I love strategy games and this one was obviously attractive. I haven't attended any tournaments yet but plan on looking into the closest one soon.

You're pretty close to Schaef on the outskirts of Columbus. He holds tournaments sometimes and would be a great guy for you to get to know. Alternatively, there used to be some tournaments on the north side of Cincy as well run by another great guy named Travis. However, he hasn't hosted any since before Nats. Just check the tournaments page at Cactus' website to see what is coming up.

You're welcome to come to our tournaments as well (Jackson, KY) but that would be a lot longer drive for you. However, sometimes the OH guys do come down this way and perhaps you could car pool with them and make a road trip out of it

Ok, thank you. Do you know how I can get a hold of him? I think I'm starting to get the rules down pretty well, but I obviously need to get some playing under my belt.

If you are looking to get games in, install Hamachi and join some of the networks and install RTS (Redemption Table SImulator) to play online is a great way to get started.

FYI, "The Garden Tomb" is a fortress card from the "Rock Of Ages" tins in which a whole offense is built around. Personally, I wouldn't really suggest new people to play that theme. It takes some practice to make it run well. Once used effectively, it can be devastating because it relies on the "ignore" principle.

yes it works well with cards such as Jepthath/Holy grail and a well played Women as Snares and also if you have a protected from discard defense its fun to mix The Garden Tomb with a little Authority of Christ promo...But I don't suggest it for new players either...might I suggest Angels?

I think musicians is also a great offense. The cards are cheap, no/few URs, and very powerful with RoA.

Also, Son of God is definitely the best card. Why? It adds to your score without any possible disruption (with the exception of a few cards). Welcome once again!

Hey, I am the infamous Travis that the Prof speaks of. It is true that I have not hosted in a while, but all of that is about to change. You are more than welcome to come to any I host and any that Archibald hosts in Trenton, just minutes from our venue. As for the most powerful card in the game, I would say Altar of Ahaz since it is able to stop the Son of God and New Jerusalem from being played. I mean, how can you get more powerful than stopping what most people consider to be the top two cards in the game. Also, Falling Away is brutal because it does the opposite of Son of God. If you need cards, we have lots you can have, so contact me and maybe we will see you at a tournament. There is actually one in Trenton, OH this weekend too on Saturday if you wanna come down...
