I had this successfully played on me for the first time 2 days ago.  I rescued with Strong Angel, hoping his 10/8 FBTN would carry him through.  Opponent created Doubt in his territory and successfully stalemated me for that one turn.

I had traded my copy of Doubt away months before for an Altar of Ahaz.  From a money standpoint I guess this didn't add up very well.  I see Doubt goes for $15 at threelionsgaming.

I guess I'm just curious what I'm missing about Doubt that made this card ultra rare and able to fetch prices like that.  I've not seen this card in winning tournament decks.

Is there something that I'm missing, and should I have held on to my copy?  I could see a nominal use in a Demons deck if it allowed it to be added to battle, or if it stayed for more than one turn.  Please let me know if I am missing some super combo that involves Doubt.  Thanks.

nope, you aren't missing anything.  Doubt is expensive just because it is a UR dominant.  It isn't that powerful (I have only seen it used once).  Doubt's strength relies in the fact that it is genderless, and is not a demon, human, etc.  That makes it "immune" to many convert and d/c a demon cards.

However, it isn't worth $15 IHMO.  AoA is a better card :)

Doubt has some advantages. As Stephen Schaefer likes to note, it's neither demon nor human, neither male nor female, making it tough for most cards to target it. It has good toughness, although it only lasts for a single block, and I believe you can play it someone else's territory in dire multiplayer situations.

However, it's still nothing close to a deck staple, and is not very popular, probably only really used in heavily orange decks. I don't know what controls price, so I can't say if $15 is a good price. I think Altar of Ahaz has done more for me, personally, than Doubt has, but I also haven't played in some time.

I use Doubt in my multi-player deck.  I used to have it in my Garden Tomb deck, since it would give me an EC that wouldn't be in play on my turn.  It stopped some rescues, especially against FBN heroes.  But I removed it during playtesting this year, since there are better cards in the new set.  :)

I don't have an orange defense that does NOT include this card.  It needs the versatility too badly.

You Doubt there are better versions of A & B starter deck cards in the next set?  Or am I confused?

Sorry, often times things only make sense in my own head.

You said that you don't use Doubt anymore because cards that are better than Doubt in the next set. I responded by saying that cards that are better than Doubt already existed in the A & B decks. That's what I meant to say, sorry if it came out stupid.

Although if you would like to tell us about reprints of A & B starter deck cards, I'm very open to those. I would especially love a reprint of Rebekah.
