Title: Color Blind Players: Advice Requested
Post by: WarrenGraham1000 on January 08, 2019, 01:26:18 PM
To my fellow color blind/partially color blind players:

I'm partially color blind, and in my 6 years of playing, I haven't built much of a collection. This is due, in part, because I have trouble telling the difference between some of the brigade colors. This is made worse by the fact that CGD makes different shades of the same color all the time.

The friend I play with is very kind, and doesn't judge, but it's still frustrating to play a card only to have him tell me it's the wrong color.

Redemption is the only game that I feel like I can't build a deck on my own, and I want that independence back. I want to be able to buy packs, and build a deck without needing anyone to check over the colors.

So, my question to you guys is: Do you have methods of independantly identifying a card's color?

Thanks, y'all!

Some thoughts I have are that you can always look either on Lackey or the resources section in Land of Redemption to get the brigade information for any card. Then you can build decks accordingly. And for playing casually, perhaps you can just write on the front of the card sleeve what each card's brigade is. For tournaments I'm not sure if that's allowed, but if not you could just get to know your deck's cards well enough that you can memorize their brigade. And you can always ask your opponent what brigade any of their cards are if they're playing any you don't already know.

You may be able to find some small stickers or something that you could put on cards or perfect fit sleeves so that whenever the deck is sleeved you could use the stickers to tell what the brigade is. Theres bot really a good way to tell brigades on cards while colorblind at this current time. Maybe in the future this will he addressed.

Thanks! I'm looking at Land of Redemption now! Do you know what program is needed to download the searchable PDF?

Just Adobe Reader (which is free). I would recommend though using the Excel spreadsheet of every Redemption card on this (http://landofredemption.com/?page_id=2741) page (the direct link is here (http://landofredemption.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/All_Sets_Full_List.xlsx)). LoR has some really helpful resources!

Also, on Your Turn Games' website (http://www.yourturngames.biz), you can sort/filter all the individual cards in the game by brigade (amongst other factors). Just go to Buy Redemption CCG --> Singles and then use the Filter on the left. Then you can see images of all the cards matching that filter. For example, here (https://www.yourturngames.biz/collections/singles/black#MainContent) is all the black brigade cards in the game.

Maybe in future sets there could be a short identifier in the corner next to the set symbol?  Just one or two letters should be enough.

Thanks, Jesse! Those lists really help!

That would honestly be amazing!
