I'd be interested in trying to make at least once a month! At this point any level of tourney would be great for the new promos (so at least one of each :P).

I'm really excited to see Wisconsin tournaments are starting up again!

I've found that Rob is a little flexible on the six week deadline depending on how busy he is. I believe it's there to allow him time to process the application and ship materials in time.

The new promos are in. If Rob has not yet updated the tournament application just write in your request on the app and I think he will send them.

I can do most Sat/Sun. If I hear some dates I can get a better idea of when I'm available.

Depending on just how far of a drive it is, I might be able to make it...especially if you ended up hosting a WI state tournament.

If we can confirm a location I'd be happy to help plan/host/judge/whatever a State tournament if it means we have one this year!

Aww c'mon...I lived in WI for a few years... ::)

Interestingly enough, WI is actually where I lived when I first received an A/B starter deck as a birthday gift from a friend in Ohio. So you could say my life as a Redemption player began in WI!  :o

Or it could be like what happened last time I went to Nat's after sweeping MN tourney... ;P

But probably not. #Mega'sabitrusty

Wish I could've been there to see how it happened...

I wonder if MN can ever live that down. ;)

It was fun... And never underestimate Gab when everyone has Soul drought....

Okay, Here's what I'm thinking as far as dates are concerned,

May 13th, Local
(May 27th, Iowa State)
June 3rd, (District)
June 17th, (Local)
July 8th, (District)
July 22nd, (Local)
(August 3rd-5th, Nationals)
August 19th, (Local)

Also listed are dates of out of state tournaments that I plan on attending. The dates in June and July may change once we know when the North Central Regional will be held. I thought it would be a good idea to host tournaments more frequently over the summer to get back into the swing of things leading up to Nats, and then transition to once a month after Nats, but if there is absolutely no interest in doing 2 tournaments a month I can rearrange the dates. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

The schedule for the Locals will probably look something like this,
8:00 - 9:00 AM - Deck Check
9:00 - 1:30 PM - T1 2P (With a break for lunch)
1:30 - 5:00 - Booster Draft
1:30 - 5:00 - Other Categories (If interested)

Districts will be similar with T1-2P in the morning and the other three categories in the afternoon, or 2 categories each in the morning and afternoon. The specific timing can be worked out depending on who wants to play what categories. I expect the schedule for the Locals to be pretty loose.

There will be a $5.00 entry fee for the locals and a $10.00 entry fee for the Districts that includes all the non-sealed categories. Sealed events cost extra. Lunch will be provided.

For Booster Draft, we will be able to do Kings, Priests, EC, PC, and CoW for $18.00, unless you want to do the three box packs and either Kings or Priests for $16.00. I'm not an expert when it comes to what packs to draft. Your thoughts on what exactly you would like to draft and how much you are willing to spend would be appreciated.

If there are people who are interested in playing either T2-2P or T1-Multi instead of booster, that can be added as another category in the afternoon.

As far as location goes, I'm going to submit the paperwork to try and reserve the community room, but, if they decline it for whatever reason, I have a couple friends who's churches may be interested in hosting. I'll update you when I've nailed down a location.

Thanks for all the input and support. I really hope this is something that will last.

How far are you guys from the Twin Cities again?

Any chance you'll try to host a WI state (maybe on the July 22nd date)?

I don't know where exactly the triplets live and would be hosting, but iirc from Milwaukee to the T2-only a couple years ago was around 6 hours including stops for gas and food?

Yep, I'm actually familiar with Milwaukee...used to live there.  :)

I thought maybe they were closer to Green Bay.

We live in Cedar Grove, WI. It's about a five hour drive from Minneapolis to Cedar Grove. One of the potential locations is in West Bend, but that is about the same distance from the Twin Cities.

There is a chance that we could host WI State. The determining factors would be if there is enough interest to cover the cost, and if the location is big enough to accommodate the expected turnout. I can't make any promises, but I am confident that if enough people want WI State to happen, myself included, it should be a possibility.

Do you have an address for where it is? And perhaps put all the tournament info in the OP?

We're hoping to have a better idea soon, but MN State could likely end up in the June 17th to July 15th range--possibly hosted in Rochester or in Lakeville where we held it last year.

I updated the OP with the information for the tournament this coming May 13th.

Earlier this week I received the package from Rob with the tournament supplies. For this first Local the prize packs will be CoW, but future events will be RoJ.

Everything is ready to go.

I'll probably be sending in the application for the District on June 3rd soon as well. I'm assuming it is in the interest of the majority to have Paul as the promo? I'm interested in getting all three, Eli, The Serpent, and Paul, so whatever you want to do works.

I'm probably gonna be grabbing The Serpent first. But for our Local are we getting the LS Promo?

Aww... that's the only one you guys grabbed? That's too bad... guess I'm hoping that it's worth enough that I can trade it for the LS to someone then.

If I'm able to attend this tournament, I would trade you the promo LS for your Watchman promo.

FYI, when you register for a local tournament you can only select one promo. If a host has run a lot of tournaments, they may have extra copies of the other promos so they can offer those as well, but newer hosts probably won't be in that situation.

Really excited to see WI tournaments again, and definitely hoping it works out for me to make it.  8)

I'll be glad to take that deal.

The only reason I'm thinking I might have to trade for it is it sounds like the Triplets didn't ask for it. But yea, I know the whole I can choose a promo. =)

Sounds good.

I meant that when you send in an application for a tournament, you can only pick one promo to give out. When Noah registered, he would not have been able to request both the LS promo and the Watchman promo.

If you're able to make it that would be awesome!

Noah, I don't suppose you'll have any of the new packs for booster draft in time for next week's tournament, would you?

We just placed our order of RoJ packs today. We'll hope they get here in time, but I can't say for certain.

Huh, that must have changed, because when I held my tournament I choose multiple promos and I got them. But then again that was 4 years ago...

I'm kinda hoping that we don't have much RoJ in this tournament as I already sunk $50 some into a bunch of cards for the last format as I was expecting for it to be printed later. And now I'm seeing why other games have a release date where cards become tournament legal for everyone...

RoJ will not be legal for this T1 tournament--if they're available they can only be used in Booster draft.

RoJ becomes legal for tournament use on May 26th.

Other games tend to also have more money available to ensure that cards become tournament legal for everyone because it allows them to make more money. Other games also cycle out several older expansions from tournament play each year so that individuals have to buy newer cards.

Um, I only know of Magic that cycles Sets. Most others that I play don't. (Yugioh, Vanguard, Buddyfight, etc). As for being tournament legal, all other games (even small ones) have always had a release date/tournament legal date as long as they had tournaments. I'm honestly glad that Redemption is now doing that as well. It usually doesn't take money to ensure it though. (Most companies like Konami just make it that you can't get the set until the week it's tournament legal and everyone knows when that is)

either way, I'm happy.

(Well, other than being soul-droughted by Master Q...  ::))

Yeah, the drought in our game was pretty ridiculous. 50 card decks are capable of more drought than I would've thought (somehow ANB and Mayhem don't produce souls). This isn't even mentioning my game with John, which was similar but not quite as terrible. I should've been the one with the "Bad Beets" sleeves. :P

And if Noah W didn't have Barnabas to pull up souls, he would've been droughted too! Makes me glad for a certain soon-to-be-legal card. 8)

I updated the OP with information about the next two upcoming tournaments.

We're planning on hosting both tournaments at our home because we haven't heard back whether or not the church we hosted at before will be available. I'll let you know if anything changes.

I decided to have them both be districts, so we get the promos sooner than later, and I moved the proposed tournament on the 17th to the 24th, so that it doesn't conflict with Minnesota State which we are going to try and attend.

For booster draft, I was thinking about either doing 5 RoJ packs, if that's possible, or one each of Disciples, Early Church, Persecuted Church, Cloud of Witnesses, and Revelation of John. Your thoughts on what would be good for booster are appreciated since we will be ordering packs in the next couple of days.

I'd love to do both drafts, but I suppose if I had to choose one it would be the one with the variety of boxes. But that's only one vote.
I would love to do both as well  8) The variety would be official and the other would be for fun.

Yes, I have an Everlasting Beings (RoJ) I would be willing to trade.

Just so everyone knows, I updated the OP with information about another upcoming tournament.

In the next week or so I will be sending in an application for a tournament in the month of August following Nationals and I am wondering if there are any Saturdays that don't work for anybody that month.

Good to see a couple of the old Green Bay people on Sat, thanks for coming and hope to see you again! 8)

If you guys haven't turned in the results yet (which I'm guessing is a no, seeing as it's Sunday), I would propose Nathan or Jonathan (whoever I played in both games) be bumped to second in Booster over me. After thinking about it again (now that I'm not tired :P), I'm pretty sure we misplayed that one battle with DoU, and if so, I'm fairly certain he would have won instead of me. I could give him a replacement prize pack when I win another one in the future (if I do), or whatever you think. It's not a big deal, since I don't really care about prizes or points, but I don't want to have a mistake hang over my head when it cost someone a placing (as I'm fairly certain it would have) and they might care about those things.

Don't worry about it. Everybody makes mistakes and misplays stuff. We don't care much about prizes and points either. Regardless, it wouldn't make sense to go back and update tournament results for a "fairly certain" possibility of a different result. So consider your conscience cleared ☺ Can't wait to see you and everybody else next time!

Then I shall make it up to you next time! Somehow...

PS- I've been keeping my post count at 1111 for awhile now, so that's why posts might turn up missing. This one too, may mysteriously vanish someday. :o

Or you could go for 1337...

I updated the main post with information for our first tournament of 2018.

Also, I would like to get your feedback on what type of tournament (Local or District) and what promo you would be interested in for March, and if there are any dates that don't work for you. We can do the 17th, the 24th, or the 31st if we submit the paperwork by this Saturday.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in February!

Did you guys decide on when the March tourney is?

We weren't able to find a weekend in march that worked. April 21st just got scheduled. Noah's going to update the thread with details sometime soon. We'll be getting ROJ packs as prizes :)

I updated the OP with information for the April 21st local tournament.

Sorry I didn't get this updated sooner. I haven't been on the boards much lately and I completely forgot.

It would be great if the guys from Appleton could make it so we could have 2 tables of booster draft.

Also, new this tournament, prize  packs will be RoJ!

Look forward to seeing y'all.

Darn, I won’t be able to make it that day. I’m helping my Mom out with her homeschool convention that Fri/Sat.

Hey, are any of you guys going to Nats and would have an open seat in your car? I’d like to go, but I don’t have a vehicle that I’m confident will make it to Texas and my Mom doesn’t want to go this year.

I'm about 95% certain I'm not going to Nats. I just don't think I could justify the trip, for a variety of reasons. Sorry. :P

Hey,
Anyone got the old Antideluvian cards from CoW, Shem’s Wife, Cov of the Rainbow (FoM) and ANB (FoM)? I kinda need them for a new deck I’m making and I’ll be willing to trade some stuff from FoM as I just got a box

It appears it may be just me this next tourney since Ryan couldn't get off that Saturday. Not sure if I'll end up going if it's just me though. Either way, I'll try to let you know what to expect next week.

If that is the case, it may be better to postpone till next weekend. I didn't realise this either at the time, but we are getting Wednesday and Thursday off at work, so we may have to work this Saturday as well.

Also, we are considering hosting a tournament in August either a week or two after nationals to get the Majestic Heavens promo.

I think we have all of those, except maybe Cov of Rainbow.

I don’t mind much if we delay for a week.

@MasterQ If I can trade for them, that’d be great. Also are you going to the Regional in MN? If so could I get a ride with you guys? (I can pitch in some for gas)

Ok, so we're on for this Saturday and Our friends from Green bay will be joining us! (They took off of work for this day, so I don't want to reschedule to a later week)

Unfortunately, due to my bad planning (and not checking our inventory) we don't have enough packs for booster. (Unless we want to do an all Kings/Priests draft...) I think the only alternative we have is to do T1-Multi :(

Yeah so Ryan won't be able to be off either this or the next Sat. But I'll try to make whatever date you do decide.

@James- Regarding Regionals, we are going, yes. But we are not going your way (assuming you live closer to Milwaukee) as our route is just straight to Rochester from where we are. You would have to drive up to where we are. Even so, the choice is not mine. We'll see what happens.

I can drive up to Oshkosh. I wouldn’t mind that way, could you ask who would have to make the decision?

If I didn't already have a commitment on Saturday, I would have thought about making the trek out there and bringing packs with me...I've wanted to come to another of your tournaments, but I've been the main host in the Twin Cities this season as Bill has had to focus on other things so it's tough to commit to traveling too much.

The OP has been updated with two tournaments in August and September. These may be the last two that we are able to host his year.
