Title: PA Local 1-3-15 @ Hanover Wesleyan
Post by: czepp on November 08, 2014, 04:01:19 AM
I'm waiting for the approval from Rob, but I'll make a thread to remind people. Here are the details for the event. Since this is a small local and free registration there will be no lunch provided. We will travel to a local restaurant in the area to chow down and socialize. Remember this is a way to help our community during the holiday season by donating food items.

Date: january 3rd, 2015
Time: Doors open at 8am, Gameplay at 9am
Location: Hanover Wesleyan Church (701 Black Rock Road Hanover, PA 17331)
Cost: Registration is free, but we ask that you bring 2-3 canned good or non-perishable food items to donate to a local charity. There will be a cost to play Booster.
Categories: Type 1 2 Player, Type 2 2 Player, Booster Draft

If i'm missing anything or you have a question just PM me. See you on the 13th.

As fun as the last tourney was, unfortunately, my brothers and I will be unable to attend.  We are having my youngest daughters 1st b-day party that day.  It is a weekend that I am off and family first! Have fun with the tourney! Keep me in the loop for the next one!

My attendance is up in the air right now. Josiah, if you see this before Facebook, you have a message waiting for you.

On another note, since this is the best place to talk to all of you local people at once, I'll just say it here. December 5th at 8pm, 6th at 8pm, and 7th at 2:00pm, there are showings of Death of a Salesman at Shippensburg University, in which I play the lead, Willy Loman. It's a tremendous show, and the cast and direction is excellent, and it would mean a lot if any of you could make the trip. There is a fair amount of language (including from yours truly) and a tiny bit of iffy subject matter, but really nothing over the top. If you have any concern, drop me a PM. But yeah, you all should come see it. It's great.

I'll def try to make it out, and maybe see if Josiah and others would want to ride with me.

Thanks! I am also teaching some youth the game this Saturday at a church in Myersville, MD. Hopefully a new generation of players is born!

See you all on Dec. 1st - Chic-fil-a sounds good to me!

Is this 8pm I assume? What time is everyone meeting for lunch/dinner?

Thanks,

Lance

Sorry Lance I forgot to add the AM behind 8. We are starting in the morning not evening. And as far as lunch goes we'll go for a local restaurant, most likely Chick-fil-a.

Just curious, did you already order stock for booster?

I was thinking it could be fun to do a pack of phase 1 and phase 2 of TEC and forget the tin.   Idk what anyone else would think about that or if it's too late anyways.

Tournament has been postponed due to immediate schedule changes with tournament hosts, and possible players. Sorry for the short notice, but please spread the word to people you may think are planning to attend. We will try to host the local in January before some of the college attending players have to return back to school. Hope you all have a Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year.......wait something isn't right.

What does everyone think about 1/3/15?

If it's the 3rd, I would probably be able to make it. I'm going to be in the area starting the evening of the 24th and stay in the area until the 4th or I get bored or my there's a catastrophe that causes me to return to NY prematurely.

There's a decent chance I'll be out of town the 3rd, but if I know in the next day or two that we are DEFINITELY going to do it, I have a small chance of being able to attend.

3rd is better for me then the tenth and if tori could come that would be cool

But if it has to be the tenth I am ok with that.

Either date works well for me. Now that I think about it the 3rd is better because I will still be off for the holiday, and I won't have the possible chance of working on the weekend. So if no one objects the 3rd thats what we'll go with.

I won't have the booster supplies there before 1/5 unfortunately, but that should not be a factor for you guys still doing a tourney if you want. We can save booster for another tourney :).

Since Brad can not provide booster materials, would the players attending be interested in playing another category? Maybe teams?

For the easy of deck building how about multi

But teams is more fun.  And me and you need more opportunities to embarrass ourselves by forgetting activate the ability the deck was built around.

I don't really have an opinion on the second event. However, my mom double booked me for Saturday by scheduling an appointment for noon in Etown, so it looks as if I won't be around for the first event.....

on a somewhat related note - if anyone going to the tournament happens to be a barber that will make it more likely that I can be there the whole day. (I just need 2 inches off the ends)

Post by: Chris on December 28, 2014, 10:20:57 PM
I'd prefer Teams over multi. It's a marginally more fun category. Alternatively, we could split the day into T12P and T22P allowing everyone to play both. With roughly a week of preparation, I'm sure that would be enough for everyone to get decks together of each.

So um...given the way things are looking for Saturday for other events, and the respective locations being represented...

Will there be a tv that afternoon?

EDIT:  Nevermind, thought it was the afternoon game, not the evening one.

I honestly don't have the card pool to put together a cohesive t2 right now unless Dayne wants to let me borrow a deck I won't be able to play that at the moment

Yeah, I don't either, I specifically reduced my collection to just be a T1 player.

Post by: Redoubter on December 29, 2014, 05:01:47 PM
I could possibly throw some T2 decks together, but I'm not sure if people would want to be waiting for T2 to finish to move on (even if we have other board games there).
Title: Re: PA Local 1-3-15 @ Hanover Wesleyan
Post by: czepp on January 01, 2015, 01:41:25 AM
If we don't have any players for T2 then we can change it to a type 1 only tourney. 2P multi and teams. Depending on the length of the tournament I may not be able to stay into the afternoon.
Title: Re: PA Local 1-3-15 @ Hanover Wesleyan
Post by: to_to_toriquah on January 01, 2015, 09:01:51 PM
I would prefer the type 1 only  - mainly because I've never played type 2 and really don't feel like learning at a tournament setting or driving the whole way there and only playing one event. I was able to un-double book myself, so I shall be present for the whole day.

If admission/ entry fee is still nonperishables - is there a minimum number of items I should bring for that?

I'll be sad if no T2 at all, but we'll still make it.  Bringing myself, Blake, and Charles, MD.

I won't be there. I'm in the process of painting my room, and it's turning out to be a longer project than I'd thought. I'd really like to have a district soon though.

Here is my feeling, the playoffs for the NFL start tomorrow Zepp said he may have to leave early my thought it

We run t1-2p and then  follow it up with t2-2p against t1-multi then everyone could headed home by 1 maybe 2 then people can be home for football I know lots of people have teams in games tomorrow

Or just have someone bring a TV to the church and have a play-off party following the tournament... 8)

Or is the Steelers/Ravens rivalry too fierce to risk watching it together?  ;)

That could be dangerous for good Christian fellowship ;)

At least that game is at night, so we can still have a good tournament.

In all honesty I dont mind someone cheering for their team even if it's against mine.  I will be the first to admit I have to work hard to be kind to Someone who is just rooting against my team for the sake of being a tool.

That said I think we would be fine watching it together but my church isn't a 234,000 person church like yours Justin so we don't have TV lol.
