Yet if you did it in MN 125+ people would come  ::)

It's true that Minnesota has a large number of players, but still, if we held Nats in Minnesota, it would probably be only Minnesotans there.

As others have already noted, it comes down to whomever applies.

Ideally, though, a rotation like the following could work well:

Northern mideast/midwest
Southern mideast/midwest
East
Northern mideast/midwest
Southern mideast/midwest
West
Northern mideast/midwest
Southern mideast/midwest
East
Northern mideast/midwest
Southern mideast/midwest
West

Once every 6 years, the East and West could get a Nats while 4 out of every 6 years most of the Redemption community would get to attend Nats.

Despite the many variables involved in the selection process, that formula is brilliant and simple. Furthermore, it is dependable. +1

A set rotation would be nice for tourney hosts too because they would have a certain number of years to prepare.  Also it would be nice for players because if I knew the regions that the Nats tourney would be each year it could make planning on attending easier.  And Stamps rotation gives the bigger playing areas more Nats but still taking the far east and west into consideration.

And as for the CA numbers you have to remember there is a Nevada group and an Oregon group that are already talking about going to Nats if hosted in CA which could add another 20+ people.

My suburban will be full, which is 8 players. If I can get another driver and SUV or van that would be another 8 or so also.

My vote is either:
1) CA if Rob can afford to fly
2) NC/Georgia if Rob needs it close to home

I really, really want it in CA this year.  It is once in 15 years for the west side of the Rockies.  However, if Cactus needs to save $ due to the current economy, then I'd pay to fly Kurt and I to GA/NC so Rob could have a short drive.

It would only cost you one plane ticket to fly Rob to CA but I don't know if he'd travel to Nats without his family.  :)

BTW, I think Nats '09 should be in Iowa so everyone can come see the world's largest strawberry.

Mark your calanders for March 7th, 2009.

With gas prices down we expect Kansas to be back, along with Wisconsin, Nebraska and Iowa. Maybe the Canadians will make it this year. And with Nationals being in California this year who knows maybe the Georgians will put in an appearence since they might not make it to Nationals.

Details to follow after the new year.

Were warming up for everybody. Last Friday at game night we put a game together to challenge BmJayBee83 our very own 2nd place finisher at 2008 Nathionals in Type 2 Multi player. We put him at a table with one Random High School Kid, one Random College Student and one Random Old Guy. He placed 4th. Life is tough here in the North Country.

Stay warm this winter, keep your long underwear on. We do.

Bill

You heard it here first folks, Natz '09 is gonna be in Sunny Southern California.   8)

California is a city in Minnesota.
Thankfully, my third grade teacher spent three weeks on context clues, which proves:
A. Everytribe was referring to the golden state, and
B. I actually will use that stuff I learned in the real world.

On a related note, we've got a Minnesota, CA.  In fact, it's mere miles from Anderson, CA.

FWIW, I have been pushing for a west coast Nats since last year's "Where will Nats be?" thread, even though I am a lifelong east-coaster. I was just trying to make Ben laugh.  ;)

but that wouldn't be Minnesota, that would be Callifornia, where as
California is a city state in Minnesota.
makes everyone happy, because Minnesota can be 2 states at once. more amazing Minnesota facts.

Do you hear that Marylanders (is that a word...? People who live in Maryland). We have exact 11,842 more lakes than you! Go ahead, we'll let you wish you were as cool as us :P

EDIT: To those who don't know; Maryland doesn't have any (natural) lakes.g

Wow you really do learn something new every day.  I had no clue Maryland had no natural lakes.  I'll have to use that for a trivia question with my youth group tonight.

Not to one up Minnesota or anything (come to think of it that's exactly why) Manitoba is the land of 100 000 lakes.
