I will be hosting the PA state tournament on Friday and Saturday (June 5-6). Here are a few items to help you plan your weekend (if you can make it):

1. Free lodging at the church (bring a sleeping bag and pillow)
2. No showers (you have to use a sink in the bathroom)
3. Air conditioning
4. Burger joints within a mile
5. No food will be sold onsite
6. I'll post the event schedule later when I get out of the office.

I have not hosted a tournament in over two years - a church fire pretty much put our playgroup out of commission since early 2007. It has been a tough two years. The good news is that late last year our congregation merged with another congregation across town. We meet in their building where the PA states will be held. This should be the first of many future event at my "new" church. Even though our playgroup is currently small, this is a blessing to be active again.

No promises. I'm starting a new job in a week and don't know what my schedule will be - I expect training will be out of town.

Sorry I won't be making the (approximately) million-hour drive up to Pittsburgh for this. I'm happy to hear you have things worked out enough with the church to make this happen though! Who's still in the "playgroup"?

Thanks Tim for being more observant than I.  Looks like it'll take closer to 4 hours.

Does anyone know the price of the tolls?  I'm wondering if it will be more cost efficient to take a north then west route to avoid them rather than take the straight on route.
May you prosper greatly!

Josh Meneely and I. 1 other kid, David Ecker, has shown some interest in attending, maybe.

Guess that's about the same as when I was there... except without me.

Were you at the "Priests Party" when we spent all evening opening the then-brand-new Priests packs? That was good times.

Type 1 - Multiplayer ($8.00)   &           Type 2 - 2-Player ($5.00)

PLEASE post questions and comments.

A couple of things

A) why is Type 1 Multi at $8.00 ( I assume it is a misprint since it is an open category and not a closed one)
b) are you really starting at 2:00 in the afternoon?  wow!  we are gonna get done early on Friday.  Are we planning on doing both categories on Friday night? or are we going to run them all at the same time.  If we are doing both rounds that night then I will have to bring extra $$ to play.

Sorry about the misprint on Type 1 multiplayer. It is $5. I started at 3:00 in the afternoon so we can have a dinner break and play other games at night.

Nope, just regionals. Some notes from my expiriences:

T1 multi - Nothing interesting. Seriously, just basic luck based events comming through for me.

T2 2P - This was my first itme in the event. I built a deck out of Sean's generously offered cards in order to have 3 players in the event (woo low turnout!) I used a brown sitelock Genesis combo. Matt beat me fairly easily my first game, but then in the second game i drew everything right and beat Sean with his own cards. Upon inspection of my deck, he had the following quote:

"This is one for the boards. I just got beat by my own cards 7-2 in a deck without covenants or fortresses."

Thanks for the cards to use Sean! :)

T1 2P - Another fairly boring event. Both games were 5-4, but both neither had a lot of action as my game with Sean I used atutrle deck and didn't attack til the end of the game and with Matt we both played fairly fast decks so nothing too contestful.

Booster Draft - I didn't get to rip my plot. I was sad.  :(

Prizes, packs, etc. -

I won 30 packs, 20 priests and 10 apostles. I opened 2 ultra rares in them, High Priest's Plot. Oh, right I only got one.

Between the booster draft packs (3 of which could have had ultra rares) and the second informal booster draft we played with all expansions (5 of which could have had ultra rares), I got a total of 6 ultra rares, including a Wall of protection, pierced heart, Abram/Abraham, Moses and Elders, and a Michael's Sword (passed by all 3 other players) amd a Destruction of NEhushtan (passed by 2 other playes).

Yeah, My own deck almost beat me in Type 2- Multiplayer.  The first game was played with no time limits and it ended up being about 2 1/2 hours long.  It ended in a 7-6-5 score with Dan on top.  Dan and I were keeping pace early. 1-1 and then 2-2  then I jumped up to a 4-2 lead and then  played ANB.

That resed killed me because not only did I not draw any Heroes, The other two feasted on all the LS's that were pulled for FIVE turns until I drew my first Hero (Which was miram and Sean killed her on her rescue attempt)  I got in a hole and tried to play ANB to reset again and this time I got the heros but they did not draw any LS's for me to rescue.  Those two resets really put me in a hole that I never recovered from.

The second game was pretty much a blow out.  I won 7-3-2.  Jumped to a quick 5 soul lead and then reset with ANB while I kept my defense due to house of Rimmon.  A couple of provisioned characters later and the game was over.  Both Dan and I tied in points and I won in LS total.

T1 multi - Nothing interesting. Seriously, just basic luck based events comming through for me.

AHEM!  I beg to differ.  I cant remember how many rounds we played I think it was two.  I tied for second for half a point in the first game and began the second game stoked and ready to wail on my opponents.  First round, Sean turns up Given over to Egypt and makes me discard my SoG.  Needles to say, my day was done.  I decked out both games ut without my SoG I had very big uphill battle and I never recovered.

I was smarting from it during the game and I am sure everone else was sick of my whining but Its like a bad beat in poker, you just cant keep from talking about it.

and a Destruction of NEhushtan (passed by 2 other players).

Honestly, who passes a DoN?

True, true.  I guess I am the noob because I cant pass on a DoN in Booster regardless.  If it came in my pack, I would even draft the next Art, just to be able to play DoN in a game and nuke my own Art lol.

but that is just me.
