Is Texas Nats going to move back to Top Cut?

Personally I am totally in favor of Top Cut.

1. It allows players to take 2 losses and still compete for a top 3 finish.
2. It is an achieveable goal that many players strive to attain.
3. It avoids 3 additional rounds of Swiss for players who have no chance to place. (If you want those three rounds Type-Half and Iron Man are both available)
4. It lets non-Cut players to watch the finals and Top Cut rounds from another room. (Watching the Ohio Nats finals was one of the coolest things I ever experienced in redemption.)
5. Cut had been the standard for 3 years prior to the last minute change in Iowa. I see no reason not to go back to Top Cut.
6. It gives a small window for Top Cut players to take a quick break to refresh, grab a drink and clear their minds.

I know many people say that it is a better experience just to play more games. I am in favor of Top Cut, but I wonder if we could somehow just lock the top 8, then the rest of the pool continues to play swiss?

I am also hugely in support of top cut. I didn't get to play hardly anyone in the top 8 last year and still placed. Swiss is great for putting all the competitive people near the top but not for singling out the best individuals.

This is where I'm at. I highly doubt I'll be playing at a level to make top cut anytime soon, but I go to tournaments to play Redemption in a tournament setting, and while Ironman and Type Half are options, it's just not the same. I would much rather play six rounds than play four and then just watch the actually good players duke it out for top spot.
ANB is good. Change my mind.

Even with cut and no additional rounds you will be playing 7 rounds of swiss. If swiss continues after Cut you would get 10 rounds

Wouldn't the perfect compromise be top 8 cut and the rest of the field play three more rounds for a constellations winner (people could drop out if they wanted)? I mean a lot of people come to nationals to get quality pick up games and allowing people to play pick up games after doesn't really work out the same as official pairings.

A consolation bracket seems like a decent idea. The challenge would be how many more rounds it would take to get a winner.

I suppose you could just take everyone who wants to keep playing and play three more rounds of swiss. The person who comes out on top would be the consolation winner.

Maybe have folks play two more rounds.  For marketing/PR purposes, the finals should be live streamed (preferably with live commentary) and should have nothing else competing against it.

We will be using Top Cut as in Ohio complete with the viewing room and live commentary. I had considered doing a consolation bracket in which players could play a couple more games. We will be offering quite a few after hours and during breaks types of play so everyone will get all the Redemption they can handle for the weekend. With that being said, I am certainly open for y'all to share your thoughts.

We are locking this thread since a finalized announcement has been made, and the OP updated.

Thanks and blessings to all contributors.
