Hey,
This is a general call for who is planning to do East Central Regional.  The 2 normal Regions that I go to are too far away.  So I am hoping that someone in WV, VA, or NC plan to host it.  If there is anyone on the fence, then I would like to lend my support.  Hope someone in those 3 states respond.   :)

Is Boston really farther away than NC would be?

I am from NC...and all my family is there.  For me, it will be a double trip.  In fact, the very first Regional I attended was in NC.  It is the only reason I would travel that far.

I'm applying to host EC Regionals, and we'd love to have you come down to Oakdale again.  You could probably catch a ride with our pals up in OH (who also would be more likely to come to a Regional in KY than WI) :)

Uggg....that's a long way Mark (riding with OH guys, while a great suggestion, means I still have to get to them).  I was hoping since you had it last year, that someone else would snag it this year.  In fact, I was debating on coordinating with my mom to host it in my home town.  Alas, this may mean no Regionals for me this year.   Bummer...so much for my big comeback year.   :'(

Mark, would you possibly concede to celeres21 or anyone else that's closer to the NE border if they put in a solid bid? NE regionals is looking like it's going to be in the north, and that makes attendance for those of us in MD and PA a bit tricky, and having a closer regionals would be nice.

Well I'm actually trying to think about 3 different regions here.  I understand that the NE Regional is on the far east side, and the MW Regional is on the far west side.  That leaves playgroups in PA/western NY and playgroups in OH/MI both with a looong way to go.  So I could see having it somewhere like Charleston, WV.  That would be a lot closer for OH and PA, while still being a straight shot on the interstate for you guys in Knoxville, and not being too bad a drive for us in KY or the Ronoake, VA group either.

As for celeres21, I don't know where he lives, but if he could get a good location in Charleston, WV I'd be all for it.  And I'm open to other suggestions as well, but if nothing good opens up, I think KY is a great place to have it.  Although it wouldn't help the NE, it would help the MW.  And being on the Eastern part of the state, we're pretty much in the middle of the EC region.  Plus we have plenty of experience holding big tournaments.

We would love to hold regionals, and we are planning on running w.v. states, but we would need help.  We have not ran anything larger than a local, however we have been playing since the game began in 1995.  We are located in Fort Ashby W.V., near Cumberland M.D. (sorry that it is not near Charleston, however I am originally from around that side of the state  ;D) If there is anyone willing to aid us, we are going to put in a bid and hope for the best!

There are many veteran players that would be willing to help I'm sure. As long as it's not during class my wife and I would gladly attend. What weekend were you thinking of having it?

As long as it is not the weekend of June 8th then you have my full support (if I know in advance, then I can change most everything else).  I will help with my presence, experience, or monetary if needed.  Say the word.

I couldn't help monetarily, but I'd also be willing to provide assistance depending on the dates. Marti and Shawn hosted NE regionals last year as well, and they would likely be able to come (living in southern PA and MD, respectively), so you'd have a lot of experienced players tournament hosts backing you up. =)

Thank you guys....we do not need help with any of the money, just some people to help run it.  We are most concerned on finding a judge for booster draft, however I will sit out and do it if need be. We will be checking the church calendar today to find out if we can use it June 15 and 16...which really happens to be our only free weekend that month with creation at the end of june.

I don't play Booster draft if I can help it.  See, easy fix.  When you say church, do you mean your home church or Charleston?

Hmmmm.... Debating going to this just to spoil SS's fun ;)

I'd be more than willing to judge as well, though of course right now my ability to attend will depend heavily on the date and if I can convince my boss to give me the days off.

I don't think we have ever matched up at an official Redemption tournament (because you ducked out of my categories at the MW Regional last year :-* ), so I may be the one spoiling YOUR vacation days.   :P   ;)

OK so I just looked up Fort Ashby WV, and it's way up on the fringe of our region.  Although it would be good for the NE Region people, and would be OK for the Ronoake, VA group, it would be pretty terrible for us here in KY as well as the TN guys, and all the OH people as well.  I really can't support having it there.

Celeres21, you mentioned that you used to be from the other side of WV.  Would you be able to work with friends and family back there to arrange a church or other location to hold a Regional (either Charleston or Huntington)?

I mean our home church in Fort Ashby W.V., we would not be able to run it in Charleston.

If this regional is hosted in WV, VA then I will try to bring my playergroup down from southern PA.

- Sorry Im getting in this late - Im not sure of anyone that could host that tournament down here in VA. We only have 1 playgroup (that I know of) and dont have a good location for any event bigger than a state tournament that wouldnt envolve renting a larger facility.

In that case, I think I'll go ahead and apply to host EC Regionals this year.  You are of course welcome to apply as well.  Rob could choose to go with WV given the choice.

Will the date not be determined until after the hosting situation is determined?  I'd like to know as soon as possible what the date will be for this.
