2015 Florida State tournament
« on: April 05, 2015, 01:17:02 AM »

Tournament is on Saturday June 13, 2015 details as follows:

Deck check in starting at 9 am.

Type 1 multiplayer to start at 9:30 am, running opposite of Type 2 2-player.  When those conclude Type 1 2-player will run opposite of Type 2 multiplayer.

Somewhere around 1 pm where time permits between rounds there will be a lunch break.  Two slices of pizza and a can of soda or bottle of water will be available for $5 per person interested.  I'm having pizza delivered here in the interest of not needing people to necessarily have to run out to get food or drinks, but they are able to at that time if they prefer.

Afterwards Booster draft is scheduled to run, and sealed deck will either follow it or run at the same time depending on the number of people interested in those events.

prizes will include packs from the Disciples, TexP, and The Early Church.

The packs for booster draft at Florida states will be:
Apostles, Patriarchs, Kings, Angel Wars, Priests, and The Early Church.

Is it possible for Type 1 2-player to run first, then multiplayer after? My son and I were planning on possibly only doing 2-player.

Will the winners get to choose which prize packs they receive?

Tim,

I could run Type 1 2 player first.  I have enough TexP and Disciples for 2 of each to be released as prizes per category.  So I could give away one for each of first and second place if they choose to get them.  Please let me know if this makes sense.  Also, are you on a time constraint for the tournament?  Please let me know.  Thanks

Steven

For the prizes, I was just wondering if the winner could get all TEC packs.

Yes, we are on a time constraint. We will likely only have time to stay for one category, so T1-2P would be our preference, if that can be arranged without messing up your plans.

Tim,

Yes you can pick all TEC packs if you win, and yes I will switch the categories so that Type 1, 2 player is running first.  Thanks for getting back to me.

delarosajon,

Tim and his son were planning on being there from 9 am - 12 noon.  With the two of you, the count is currently up to 9-13.  I'm still waiting for a few of those to get back to me.

It's going to be held at my house at 10404 Calle De Flores Drive, Clermont, FL 34711.

Type 1, 2player will be running first followed by type 1 multiplayer.  Type 2 will run at the same time.  Break for lunch, and then after lunch sealed, and after that booster draft.

Booster draft will be Unlimited, Prophets, Apostles, Patriarchs, Kings, Angel Wars, and Priests.  Prizes will be TEC packs and Disciples, and TexP.

How does that sound?

Steven

And yes, Tim was planning to play in T1, 2 player.

My son and I will be doing T1-2P only due to time constraints. Since I am not hosting this tournament, I will actually be playing.  ;D

You guys always came to my tournaments, and back then I did not play in my own. I did play in that Regional Tournament one time, because I played the Master & His Apprentice, so I know you were there. However, I don't think I ever got to play you or your brother.

delarosajohn,

Sounds good.  It sounds like we have two other players from Central Florida coming to the State tourney that haven't been to a tourney in over 2 years.

Will send you a text message within the hour have a question or two for you before I update the offerings here.

Steven K. (whitengold) and his family are primarily Type 2 players. My group is Type 1. Josh Kopp (KarazyVP) plays both, depending on who he wants to dominate on that day.  ;)

For the big tournaments, I generally judge Type 2 while playing Type 1, and Steven judges Type 1 while playing Type 2.

Mr. Hiatus,

As Tim says that is correct.  We have 3-4 active Type 2 players here in central Florida.  More may come.  All are welcome.

I have what a friend of mine called a Type 1.5 deck which I've used before in Type 2. I generally play Type 1, but if timing allows I could jump in. Its a deck constructed to be playable in both formats.

Steven usually runs Type 1 simultaneously with Type 2, so this may not be possible.

I'll do type 1-2 player and draft. My brother is interested in type 1-2 player and type 1 multiplayer.

I would recommend contacting Steven directly to see if you can do both Type 1 and Type 2. He may be able to work out a schedule that  can make it happen. I was just letting you know the traditional format, but I really don't care one way or the other.

I may not be able to make it to States again. Good grief.  :'(

My son was invited to an 18th birthday party for one of his friends. They are going as a group to see Jurassic World Saturday at the earliest show they can get tickets for. I will call you if the show is late enough for us to make the first category, but it is in Posner Park, so I would need close to an hour just to get there from your house.

Sorry about that.

Tim,

Please let me know when you know.  Also, have you heard from any of your players from your playgroup at the school?  Were any of them potentially planning on being at States this time?

I'm a little surprised that they have not already bought tickets, but hopefully I will know today.

Although anything is possible, I seriously doubt it. Remember that all of my players are 16 and under, so they do not drive. They would have to convince their parents to drive them an hour or more up there, then decide whether to wait the whole time or drive all the way home, then drive all the way back to get them.

Next year I will try to create a carpool plan, or maybe just pick up as many as I can fit in my van. By the end of my second year at that school, I'm sure the parents will trust me with their kids.
