 Tyler lost to MitchRobStew. 5-7

NathanVoight vs. MitchRobStew

I think JordanAlstad timed out his game.

srry all details I got besides in Tylers game against Matt- Matt's got Lampstand up 4-4 i think and blocks with ProudPharisee revealing SoG and NJ. Tyler blocks and plays Destructive Decay to kill Lampy and plays Mayhem to shuffle them away. Matt draws 6 including SoG, NJ, and Burial. Next draw Matt pulls Guardian, then BigTimeTylerS draws into FallingAway. Matt draws Hopper, then Tyler draws FBTN LS. :(
This is the way Lackey gave it to me. All hail the power of Lackey!

Are you here Clift, or is Tyler just telling you his results?

Mitch is currently undefeated. My tutoring has done well :-*! Either Jordan or Nathan will win, whoever got 5th at the t2 only (top 4 placers at t2 only are playing t1).

T1 isn't over yet. RDT, Ring Wraith, Belle Reuter, MKC are among the top. Likely Nobody, not sure on his most recent round.

Ring Wraith is currently undefeated, suffering only a time-out tie (EDIT: Apparently he has two time out ties, which is even more interesting).  He will be playing RDT next round, who is truly undefeated. They're spots 2 and 1, respectively.

(I think)

Matt "Mjwaree5" Townsend is our new national champion! After only playing Redemption for 1.5 years! Our first place loser is John "I like to abuse my power" Earley.

Type 2 2-player championship match was Nathan (the Hobbit) vs. Kurt Hake.

Nathan uses Samaritan Water Jar early to set aside Kurt's The Strong Angel (who has won most of his souls this tournament).

Kurt has to make do with Michael instead, which allows Nathan's Proud Pharisees to draw.

Kurt is winning 6-4, and is attempting his final rescue with Michael.  Nathan's got nothing but a Proud Pharisee.  Kurt has Striking Herod in hand.  Nathan has NJ in hand.  Nathan has about 40 cards left in his deck.  Blocks with Proud Pharisee and draws 2.  One of them is Son of God.  Nathan rescues 2.  Game tied 6-6.

Nathan attempts rescue with Thaddeus.  Kurt blocks with Assyrian Archer (3/5) with 2K horses (2/2).  Draws 2.  Plays Forgotten History, for a total of 5/11.  Kurt thinks he made a last minute stop.  Nathan thinks he just lost the game.  Then they both notice Nathan's active artifact: Crown of Thorns.  Kurt's archer is 5/8, and loses to the 8/8 Thad.  At first Kurt thinks he made a mistake, and should have banded his two archers togather.  But with his archer decreased as much as it was, and Thaddeus' "X" as high as it was (he had at least a few disciples in play), Thad protected the archer from being banded to anyway.  So, Kurt's game was mistake-free, as was Nathan's, and they both are content and congratulate each other at the end of the game.

Nathan wins.  I think he had 15 points.  His lost soul differential was large.
Jordan Alstad is second with 12.5 points and a +7 (or 9ish?) lost soul differential.
Kurt is third with 12 points and a +13 lost soul differential.

Nathan takes RNRS with 102 points.  Kurt is second with 100.

Thanks for the Ninja edit, abusive moderator Bryon. Scott Reuter was fourth then. Jacob Fountain took fifth.

I was going to list the top 10 for Type 1, but all I really remember is as follows for 4 through 10:

4. Mark Underwood
5. John Nesfeder
6. Randall Koutnik
7. Martin Miller
8. Gabe Isbell
9. Alex Olijar
10. Isabelle Reuter (10 year old RLK of awesomeness. She's so legit)

I was rooting for the 10 year old. You should kick John Earley out of his elder status for beating her. He clearly doesn't know what is good for the game. What's better than a 10 year old winning Nats?

John is just so selfish, wanting to win all the Nats for himself.

I chastised John profusely for that sin.  In fact, he beat TWO young ladies on his self-serving quest for victory (though, truth be told, one of them was an Alstad, which, for John, was kind of like having to fend off a Redemption Ninja Assassin who happens to be female.  You can hardly fault him for fighting for his life in that duel.).

Congrats to everyone who placed in TEAMS, and thanks to everyone for putting up with our hijinx. A special shout out goes to to Gabe and Kevin who received a double helping of tomfoolery and were gracious throughout.  As guys walking around with huge targets on their backs, they were Classy with a capital C.

Extreme sadface. Not for me (I got everything I wanted just by having a chance to goof around with the good Count from KC), but because it would have been more than completely awesome to see Bill Voigt's name in the list of people who have won a National championship. I am not sure most people recognize that Wild Bill is an elite deck builder and an excellent player in his own right.

He lost every game with Bill. So, basically, Matt Brinkman is the best TEAMS player ever.
Paid for by the committee to anoint Matt Brinkman as the best TEAMS player ever.  ;)

What?!!! Alex have you been drinking?!! Matt BAILS on me so that Bill can come in to team up with KC "Master I want to walk all the way back to KC" Chief and Baby Boy Hobbitt to cheat me out of my first National Championship. 4 against 1 if you include the aforementioned "Best Team Player". Never again Brinkman will I trust you!!!! Talk me out of a sure first National Championship in Sealed Deck and Booster Draft (He talked me out of both to allow More South Canadians to win championships "Here").

I want an investigation. I should have known something was afoot when Mrs. Hiatus checks our decks and declares us to have a good deck (Good deck because of the complexity of my immense research on the competition coupled with my genius extreme deck building skills).

Alex don't ever find yourself in the land of Missery or I could fall on you and crush you like I did Kevin in Gabe single handedly in round 2 of the Teams competition.
Now that we're a family, I can be the ulll-timate DAD.

Here's the real truth. I hacked into Matt's email account and this is what I found.

b]Quote from: EmJayBee83 on August 14, 2011, 07:07:45 PM[/b]Not in the top 3?  At 3-0 and a [+14 LS differential you could have lost a game and still easily swept to victory.   What happened?

Quote from: CountFount on August 14, 2011, 08:07:45 PM

It was the biggest conspiracy I ever saw. It might as well have been three against one.

Game 4: Bill decides to throw the match to his baby boy. End of Story. He "allows" his son to hide his Christian Martyr in his discard pile so that I think that it is still in play for them. So I don't rescue #4 and he allows baby boy to draw when we had not one but two pigs lost souls in play. Guess whose nose they were sitting under. HMMMMMM?

Game 5: Bill decides to "throw the match" to two "kids" in his play group. Again 3 against 1.

Game 6: Who knew that Bill was the United States of Minnesota's Ambassador to Canada? Worried that I had beat down one of the Canadians in type 2 and tied the other he decides to improve relationships.

Quote from: CountfoEmJaBee83 on August 14, 2011, 09:07:45 PM[/b]You know Napoleon Bonaparte once said, "Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence." This was probably all my fault. Bill wanted me to explain how the deck worked before I left, but there wasn't much time. I think our strategy was just too complex for him. I will have to write something down for Bill next time.

To make a rescue with a by-the-numbers deck...

1) Put a by-the-numbers hero in battle.
2) Add enhancements to him until his numbers ae bigger than his opponent's
3) Claim a Lost Soul.

(Do you think I should add the part about drawing three cards at the start of the turn or do you think Bill would be able to figure that out on his own?)

With friends like that who needs enemies. The fact is I did not throw the games. As evidence:
   1. Hobbit has lost his inheritance and is no longer in the will!
   2. I will never trade those random little kids in my play group, that I taught how to play, another card again. (Especially after SirNobody laughed at me and said , "Now you Know how it feels, Ha Ha Ha.)
   3. Type2 Only Tournament is only for Americans, no Canadians allowed.

He lost every game with Bill. So, basically, Matt Brinkman is the best TEAMS player ever.

That’s what Matt would like everybody to think, he was hoping I would lose all three. But the truth is that he took out his SoG and NJ before he left to help matters along. I wondered why I never drewded them in three game.

Craig is the real mastermind. (Thanks again for the great barbeque when I visited you in KC)

I would like to hear a ruling on the actions of Wild Bill and Matt shortly. But only those elders south of Iowa, east if Kansas, west of Illinois and North of Arkansas on whether or not Gabe and Kevin should be stripped of their trophy, Bill and Matt stripped of their 'depends' and the Local Wild Bill Type 2 only tournament for 2012 moved to the fertile BBQ city of Kansas City. I will host and judge and provide the BBQ

Wild Bill, I was defending you here.  It just wasn't fair tossing you into the middle of a championship feeding frenzy armed only with the bestest TEAMS deck ever built by anyone ever. I figured taking out both the reigning National's and Midwest Regional's champions before I left--setting you up against a team that had never won a tournament--would be enough. Sadly I was mistaken.

Don't take Craig's comments too seriously. Remember, he hasn't seen you play as much as I have. He just doesn't realize you don't need to be purposely throwing a game to play that poorly.

He lost every game with Bill. So, basically, Matt Brinkman is the best TEAMS player ever.
I really think everyone should +1 that post.

I want an investigation. I should have known something was afoot when Mrs. Hiatus checks our decks and declares us to have a good deck (Good deck because of the complexity of my immense research on the competition coupled with my genius extreme deck building skills).
That's weird you spelt Mr. wrong... go put your glasses on!

Weird? I believe what was weird was you declaring that our (which was really mine) "deck was the best deck you had ever seen". End Quote! Didn't need my glasses to hear that. Although me having my dentures in did (as they flew across the room and hit Kevin's Daughter in the head).
