Aren't you like 20 or 21? If you need money, get a job.

You seem to complain about not having a tournament, yet Georgia has tournaments in Dalton which you could easily make it to. So either host your own when you know you'll have a day free, or stop complaining and go to one in Dalton. The Georgia tournaments are great.

Locals are basically free.  Pay the $20 or whatever up front, then ask for $3-5 bucks from everyone.  It pays for itself and you can have your TN tourny.

Running a tournament is not as easy as some of you make it seem and there's nothing wrong with Raven asking if anyone else on the board in that area is able to host.

Raven, perhaps you should see if anyone would be able to co-host with you. It's definitely a lot easier to have two people running things, especially if neither person has run a tournament before.

Furthermore, getting a job is not a simple matter either so for someone to say he can go out whenever he wants and find one is just plain naive.

being a guy of 22 and with aspergers and with the economy and the fact that there's so many jobs out there and so little open positions, it's not easy getting a job so stop telling me to get one when you yourselves might not have one

and thank you very much justin for backing me up  :)

If he gets a location, I'd be more than happy to co-host. I've hosted tournaments before and it's a cinch.

Well he's been complaining about not having money for two years. It doesn't take that long to get a job.

The only reason I'm not hosting one is because I am 13 and I have 0 money.

Guys, it's not needed. He asked if anyone ELSE can host. Whether he "should" host one or not doesn't matter. Back off.

Andy, co-hosting is definitely a good thing... although I know myself that finding a date six weeks in advance where at least 4 people can come (to pay for the tournament) can be very difficult. Not to mention unless someone does it with you and judges you can't compete, and I know you made this thread to see if there are any tournament close that you can compete in.

That's another reason why it's very good to have a co-host. You can each pick your favorite events and one of you judges while the other person competes and vice versa.

That is the very point of co-hosting.  Your co-host will know what to do, and then you know how to do it for the next time!

I'm sending in an application at the end of this week to host a tournament in Knoxville in November.  If one of you guys would like to come co-host with me please let me know.  I've never hosted before, but yet I have a good play group I lead every week.  I think I can handle my guys easily, but having someone who has done it before to help would be great!  Plus someone with experience can give me tips that will help me host a district and maybe state tournament!

PLEASE HAVE IT ON A FRIDAY!!!

I will probably start on Friday night sometime, and then play again on Sat.  I don't know how long these things take since it is my first time.  So I'm going to try to plan for two days to cover me.

Well, it depends on how many categories you are planning on hosting. If you just want 1 to 3 categories, you can do it easily in one day. 4 categories you can do in one day if you double up categories (2 at one time).

But like I said in another post, I would be up to co-hosting with you.

I'm sending my application tomorrow morning.  As long as Rob oks it, then it will be Nov 20-21.  Probably closed deck Friday night, and then the 3 versions of Type 1 on Sat.  I'll try to do a tournament in Jan. that will include the 2 Type 2 and booster on a Sat., with a closed deck that Fri. night again.  Just to change things up!  This also lets me see about how much time our people will take.

But if you want to make plans to come co-host with me, please come!

There is only 2 Type 1's = 2-player and Multiplayer.

There's 2 of each type, 2p and Mp. Type 1, Type 2, and closed (2p = Sealed Deck with Starters and packs; and Mp = Booster Draft with tins and/or packs).

So, which ones would you be doing?

not a good date cause that's like a week BEFORE thanksgiving and if my brother and his family comes to my house then i'll be spending like a week getting ready for their arrival and i'll miss the tournament cause of it.
how is it some planned tournaments are on bad days for me?
it would be best if it was held in january

Yeah, I know it is the week before Thanksgiving, but I really wanted to get a tournament in this year!  I am going to have one in January (as long as I'm allowed to).  I was just really excited by the fact that I had the extra time and money to do one and I didn't want to wait another 3-4 months to have one!
