Title: 12th Annual Type 2 Only, March 3-4
Post by: everytribe on January 08, 2017, 09:57:14 PM
Details for the 12th Annual Type 2 Only

Redemption Tournament March 3 - March 4, 2017
Location:  Autumn Ridge Church, 3611 Salem Road SW, Rochester, MN 55902

Lodging:  Stay overnight in the church on Friday night, doors open at 4:00pm.
Money is available to help with traveling expenses for anyone traveling from outside the great state of Minnesota.  The last couple years we have had a number of people fly in.
Cost:  Free
Pizza, pop, etc… will be available for purchase.

Tentative schedule:
Friday:  6:00    Type 2-Multiplayer (2-3 rounds depends on numbers and how late everybody wants to play). Other games will be available to play (bring your favorite).
After Multi is over we might play some specialty category to be determined that would involve play testing the new set. Of course there is always a Perkins Run.

8:00-8:30   Breakfast for those staying overnight
8:30-9:00   Registration and deck check in
 9:00-6:00   Type 2-2 player, 6 rounds

We will be having an Ironman Tournament on Saturday for those in attendance not playing Type 2. Winner will receive prizes.

Besides normal prizes for a local tournament: 1, 2 & 3rd place winners of Type 2-2 player and Type-2 Multiplayer will get a chance for a special prize. 1st place in each category will get three chances, 2nd place two chances and 3rd place one chance. So if you won Type 2-2 player and placed 3rd in Type 2-Multiplayer, you would have a 4 in 12 chance to win either an unopened box of CoW or if you would like to wait, a box of the new set when it comes out.

If you are planning on staying overnight or traveling from out of state send me a PM so we can plan for you.
Any questions contact Bill Voigt (everytribe)

A big thanks to Pat Wester for being willing to have the event at his church this year.

THE COMPETITION KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER. YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After Multi is over we might play some specialty category to be determined that would involve play testing the new set.

I wasn't planning on coming, as I have no T2 deck. But if this is a thing... blast it Bill... :P

I have a couple type one decks, so if I come I would probably play Ironman then. But I'll probably go only if I'm able to drag Ryan along.

Oh, so you'll be playing T22P? :rollin:

The T2 only is awesome. It rivals nationals. The level of competition is arguably greater..

T2 offers a far more strategic landscape to develop between players than any other category, I believe.

Not to mention I am loving the T2 meta at the moment. There are so many versatile options!!
Cloud added many potential combos and made many offenses/defenses significantly more competitive.

This is the best time to be playing Redemption!!

Remember the Guardian has about 87 type 2 decks, or you can always get on from CountFount. The Uthminister might travel up and bring his stuff so any cards will be available.

I think I might play iron man this year. I have a nice type 1 deck I would like to test, so far I have beaten an Alstad and a Miller with it. It would be nice to test it against some real men from Wisconsin.

I definitely am looking at attending. It's quite a ways away from TX but I like cross country drives. Just have to see how finances pan out.

I have been to it before (2015), and I agree with everything you said about it and the category in general. I know I would probably have no issue borrowing a deck (as I have before), it's just that I know my traveling companion would not want to play it, so he wouldn't come unless we were doing maybe a few games of T1 and some other stuff on the side (video games, unofficial booster?? playtesting??). I also know I would prefer to play a category I would play at other tournaments, given the option, given how few games I play a year.

Besides, I'd probably want to play an ANB offense anyway. No one wants to play against that. ;)

CountFount is hoping to bring some of his little ninja's along.

Maybe this will be the first year to have a Type A for Type 2. It will be called the RLK category.

Gabe could bring a couple RLK's.

I don't know if Tim's little one is ready for type 2 yet. I think she has only been using a starter deck so far.

Title: Re: 12th Annual Type 2 Only, March 3-4
Post by: everytribe on January 27, 2017, 08:53:43 PM
In Ironman you use a legal T1 deck but you play as many games as you can. Doesn't matter how many you lose just how many you win. The winner of the Ironman tournament has the most wins.

Usually not, sometimes we add a rule that you can challenge someone that beat you and play them a second time.

I would highly recommend either building one or borrowing one. T2 is amazing to play even as a beginner. I would not miss out on the fun.

With the approaching T2 Tourney ahead, give yourself the assurance that your deck is measured up to have the most competitive advantage.

The best place to have your deck analyzed is to send it to us at. Alstad&Voigt@wetestyourdecks.com.  If you send us your list, my crack triple A team of Alstad, Alstad and Alstad will test, memorize and learn the best way to teck against your deck. Since we started this free service one of the crack team members as always won the Type 2 Only. We need about two weeks so hurry because time is running out, the Type 2 only will be here before you know it.

Again the email address is: Alstad&Voigt@wetestyourdecks.com

Just booked the hotel for the tournament. Provided nothing too crazy happens between now and then it looks like TX will be represented this year. If I ever figure out what I'm playing before the tournament.

Q1: Will there be packs and other things there for purchase (maybe at a discount, or package deal price)? I only ask in case anyone's interested in doing a booster draft (or two) Friday and/or Sat, as Ryan and myself would be interested and won't be playing T2 (sacrilegiously ironic, I know).

Q2: What will there be for video games (if any)? Was thinking of bringing a Wii U or something if there's a TV there.

I really want to draft too!

I have a question that is more likely to affect only me.... Is there Sundrop in stores near there? or do I need to get some here to help me stay awake? serious question. Some states I go to don't have them.

I live in the Twin Cities, not Rochester, but I know it is pretty uncommon around here so I'm guessing Rochester is the same. If it's vital to your success in staying awake, you probably want to bring your own stash.  8)

I'm not sure what Pat and Bill's plan is for selling product, but I could certainly bring extra of the older packs to sell at a discount. Which packs did you have in mind? I don't have much extra CoW on hand, but I know Pat will have them available at the regular price.

Not sure about TV availability--if you recall last year's Regionals I think the set up will be pretty much the same as that.

I'm sure there will be plenty to do on friday night. We can figure out a booster draft. We will have other games available too. Too bad we have to play type 2, those games always talk a long time to play.

Looks like Texas, California, Northern Minnesota (Canada), Southern Minnesota (Iowa), Eastern Minnesota (Wisconsin)and possibly Ohio, Tennessee, and Missouri will be in attendance. See everybody next week.

I just got home and unpacked my bags to realize I somehow accidently grabbed an extra box of cards. It has 5 main compartments with some cards and sleeves sitting on top. It also has some shiny orange/red sleeves with a circle pattern on the back. If this is yours or you know who it belongs to, please let me know so that I can return it.

Did this get resolved for sure? I believe Wyatt_Marcum was missing a box of cards at the end of the tournament. I haven't been on the boards much but I just saw this and wanted to make sure that he got his cards back.
