Card Caddy Kickstarter

I'm on Kickstarter waaaaaay too much but I discovered something I thought I'd mention here on the forums as Redemption players may find it useful.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/narrowshill/card-caddy-double-decker

Apparently there's this deck box called a Card Caddy that converts from a deck box into a deck holder AND discard holder and comes in a variety of colors. The original size is available from the company's website (links in the Kickstarter project above).

This specific Kickstarter project is for the Double Decker size which, according to the project, holds 100 single-sleeved cards. This seems great for T2 players that keep their deck right around the minimum deck size.

I've seen a lot of people using 2-piece deck boxes (bottom and lid) where they keep the lid nearby to hold their discard pile so I thought this was something people might be interested in.

If the project raises enough money beyond the funding goal (which it's already met, so it's definitely getting made), the Triple Decker will also be available to upgrade to which holds 125 single-sleeved cards, which would accommodate the vast majority of T2 decks, I would think.

The Kickstarter project is running for 14 more days during which you can get 1 Double Decker caddy for $9, 2 for $16, or 5 for $35 (shipping included in all prices!). Once the project finishes, the products are set to arrive in July, so you should have them to show off at Nationals if you want! :P

Quote from: FAQ
What are the dimensions and what cards will fit?
The interior dimensions of the Card Caddies for this campaign are– 3.75 inches tall by 2.7 inches wide (95.25 mm by 68.60mm). This will accommodate poker-sized cards in sleeves up to and including the taller Fantasy Flight-type sleeves.

I love the the extra pieces, but not the box itself. The peg counter is brilliant. It can be used in so many games (i.e. Star Realms). The crypt is cool, too, especially when you have lots of dice. However, if the stretch goals are not met, then I probably will pass on this one.

Alright, i just got mine today, and i have to say, i'm disappointed. (i will say, it got here super fast so good for them) At first glance, it looks really nice and looks like it will fit a 56 card deck. i then tried to fit my deck into it, and i could only fit 34 cards into it. i then tried to fit non sleeved cards into it and i was able to fit exactly 56 cards in there. another thing is it is super hard to get open and cards will tend to fly all over the place when you open it. overall, i'd say it looks really good, but it just isn't a good fit for redemption. If someone ever starts the small deck concept http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/game-play-variations/a-smaller-game/ this will be a great fit for that!

i've gotten a lot of use out of my ultra pro satin tower.. i see a lot of people use it for t1 and t2. it can pretty much hold 100+ cards sleeved, dice, etc.

i do like the idea here though that you can practically carry it with you where ever. i would like it if there were sleeves that would allow me to pocket a 50 card deck. can't really do it with the ultra pros i use.

Since the Double Decker project is still going on Kickstarter I'm assuming you got the original, smaller one. That would be why it doesn't hold as much. I do appreciate the review on the usability, though! Good information. Thanks for posting that! :)

Yes, i did get the original, and i'm pretty sure that, if the double is like the single, it will still be fairly hard to open, but i guess we'll have to wait and see.
