It is difficult to give you great feedback Gabe with the little information, but Ill take a crack at it . . .

I think placing those card in Solid Green might make sense. Green often has most of the prophets and prophetic cards. IF doing a set about Christ, and referencing the OT people and events talking about the future Messiah, it would seem that Green makes the most sense.

PLEASE do not make another brigade. This would make me very sad. Redemption already makes brigade balance in expansion really difficult for R&D. What does a new color afford that we dont already have in the current 16!?

I would rather see brigades strengthen and lines become crystal clear than to muddy the mixture more. On top of that, printing variation can make it difficult to see distinguishing brigade colors (sometimes a lightly printed organge card could be visual confused with evil gold - i did this with Damsel). So, I would be concerned that the "new color" would cause visual confusion.

I think Justin hit it on the head. Open up some restricted themes more. Encourage unique deck building. Have new ways to catch your opponent off guard. Blue only has a few main strategies, red is only WC heroes and is slightly broken down under that but I would add new strategies to red instead of just any warrior is red, it makes deck building become very redundant very quickly. Teal is another viable candidate. I feel like there’s a lot to add on with themes, green is also more of a support brigade recently,  NT gold, purple is really only a support brigade recently, blue doesn’t have a NT theme, teal barely has NT heroes. Adding in some strong heroes sprinkled through other brigades would help bolster them overall.

I would like to add too that, on a technical basis, there are really
  • 16 single color brigades
  • And 622 evil and good multi-color brigade options. (if my math is correct).

A RED/WHITE hero is really a new brigade for all intensive purposes, as a R/W hero should be/want different things than R or W.

The problem with printing x/White cards is that white is already extremely stacked and it will be hard to print competitive cards in that brigade without just making plain white better. Unity and other restrictions can potentially help with that but the two white archetypes that could potentially deserve support (Ruth and Women) don't really have any synergy with red.

My point was an extreme technicality, it was not necessary practical, but the point is that if you treat multi-color "as a brigade" we have quite a bit.

O.T. Clay

Isn't that kind of like making non-Priest Teal heroes or non-Angel Silver heroes?

On a separate note, I for one am quite tired of seeing new Clay cards  ;)

Not necessarily. They fall in a similar theme. The Church is the body of Christ and the fulfillment of His coming Kingdom. From what Gabe is putting out there, the cards we are talking about are cards that are pointing to the coming Savior and His coming Kingdom. Seems to fit perfectly. I would argue that Teal could have been O.T. Clay as well since the church is a holy priesthood, but I understand it being separated due to the special call on that group of people. Silver and Orange are reserved for spiritual beings only.

If the next theme is around Christ’s return I want to see a “The Rapture” card created that doesn’t offend anyone.  :P

On a serious note I want to see more implementation of cloud characters and similar mechanics. Perhaps a cloud mechanic for ECs.

Also, no new brigades please! ty :)

How would you justify a "cloud" mechanic for the Evil side? as the idea from the good side, is that we benefit from their faith and legacy.

It wouldn't need to be a literal cloud but I agree with him that a pseudo identifier for a group of cards with self referrential abilities unique to a set is a mechanic I would like to see again.

There have been so many great ideas presented! I hope you will all keep them coming!

As I expected there's a bit of division on the idea of another brigade. Those in favor have given some solid suggestions of how we can do that. One thing I can promise is that if a new brigade is introduced it won't be the focal point of any set we have planned, so players won't be flooded with it.

I'm glad people like the cloud mechanic. I imagine there's a way we could use some kind of symbol (like the cloud but not a cloud) again for ECs, Heroes or both. That's certainly a possibility for the unique group of characters that started this discussion. It's even possible that we could toss a cloud card or two into a set if the card pertained to Hebrews 12 or was another reprint of one of the characters mentioned there. Moses 3.0 anyone?  ::)

At it's inception Teal was intended only for Priests and Clay was intended only for N.T. believers who have the indwelling Holy Spirit (jars of clay). I'm not sure we want to stray from the original intentions, but if we decide to expand either one, the ideas given are good options.

The characters mentioned in the first post won't be used this year. We're looking 2-3 years ahead now with what we're doing. We have some time to hear your ideas, discuss what's best and decide how to use them.

We plan to use a new icon style mechanic across the 3 set block that we will expand upon with each set. It's similar to the cloud icon but yet much different. We hope to reveal a sneak peak at Nationals! 8)

My concern about new brigades is that we have such a hard time with printing the brigades we have consistently. "Is it Orange or is it Gold?" is a question I have heard way too many times in the past year.

If we do introduce another color I tend to use the available common colors of meeples as a guide to what is left. With that in mind it appears we have tan, light purple, light blue, and copper. Most of those have been mentioned on here before.
