It seems that Somekittens was already volunteering on the other thread, so he's got first crack at it if he wants it, but feel free to post here if you're interested in taking on the job should he decline.

I'll take it! Though I would like to have my mod powers extended to this board, as it would make the job much easier.
I can't make people mods, you'll have to ask Prof U for that one.
I think it's kind of ridiculous that a locked thread has been unlocked by a mod a posted in 3 times now. Talk about silencing the community.
Regardless of who it's coming from, Alex does make a severe accusation that I think needs to be looked at.

Talk about silencing the community.#1 - I posted on that thread because I felt like there was an unresolved issue there. However, it has since been resolved by this thread, so that thread is no longer necessary.
#2 - I think it's kind of ridiculous that a forum member who has been here as long as yourself and has been as controversial as yourself (at times) would accuse anyone of silencing the community
#3 - I also think it's kind of ridiculous that you would take a thread that is solely here to empower the community by opening up the opportunity for someone to be in charge of the archiving of these creative community driven ideas, and turn it into a chance for you to criticize people for silencing the community.
Sounds great!
If you choose to do the last thing Alex, it should be done in APA format with appropriate citations
Feel free to cite me. The kind policemen always do.
what was the point of that?
yes i was asking why chronic posted the exact same thing
Quote from: lp670sv on December 31, 2011, 12:10:03 AMyes i was asking why chronic posted the exact same thingI placed emphasis on the reliability rather than the source part. Also, I <3 sauce. Everyone knows that.
Is Pol's decision that the thread had run it's course not good enough for you to agree? If you don't want to trust his judgement, I question why he is a mod at all.
Would you like me to start a new thread about it that brings more people into it? This is actually probably a more discrete method of questioning the choices made by mods than posting a topic such as "Are Mods overstepping their bounds? A discussion about the power of lock-editing and it's effects on the voice of the community".

If you don't want to trust his judgement, I question why he is a mod at all.Pol felt like that thread was likely to only result in pointless criticism (kinda like where you seem to be trying to take this thread, now that the main point of this thread has already been accomplished). I just wanted to make sure that the archiving project would continue on. I talked to Pol about it, and he agreed, leading to this thread. This whole thing has been resolved at this point, and Pol is doing a good job.
If you feel like mods are NOT doing a good job, and you have evidence that points to that conclusion, then you should probably PM me with it and we can have that discussion privately at first. If you are not satisfied with that private conversation, then by all means start a thread about it. Just because you and I disagree sometimes, it doesn't mean that I don't value your input. I'd be glad to hear from you about this.
I don't understand why you had to unlock the thread to do that.
you inexplicably enter two seperate times...continuing to post on that thread either 1. appears to undermine Pol (and to a lesser extent RDT)'s authority in that subforum or 2. create the appearance mods need the last word.
I disagree with your reasoning for why you agreed the thread should be locked. I think there was potentially some fruitful discussion that unceremoniously cut short.
At any rate, it looks like that thread is a moot point now, since Kittens has agreed to undertake this project.

I think there was potentially some fruitful discussion that unceremoniously cut short.I can understand why you would feel that way. But I felt like I had two choices. One was to unlock the thread, which would have severely undermined another mod's decision and authority. The other was to support that mod in their decision, and point people to a new thread where they could have that potentially fruitful discussion. I believe that I made the right choice, and stand by it.
