Zooloretto

Anybody have or play this game?

EmJayBee83:
Don't be fooled by the cute panda on the box cover. Zooloretto is one of the most cold-blooded cut-throat family games available and really fun because of that.

If you can find it, you may prefer Zooloretto Mini (or Junior).  It keeps all the fun bits of Zooloretto, but ditches money, which is the draggiest game play feature in the original.

Oops, I forgot to answer your original question. Our family both has and plays Zooloretto (mostly when we are all feeling super competitive ;)).

YourMathTeacher:
So it's not just me.  ;) When I found this game, I thought I had a great game for my 9-year-old daughter (who loves Zoo Tycoon). After two games I felt like a horrible dad. I took the truck that had a flamingo, even though my daughter loves flamingos, simply because I needed a new species for an enclosure. Later in the same game, I stole my wife's female zebra from her barn, because I had a male zebra in one of my enclosures and I wanted the baby zebra to complete the enclosure and get more coins.

You aren't kidding about cutthroat.  :o

Do you have any of the expansions?

You *are* a monster. :o

Seriously though, the cutthroat play is something everyone can participate in (no matter how old), and the interactivity it leads to is my favorite aspect of the game.

No. From my experience the expansions tend to either add different cute animals (Aquaretto) or provide additional focus on the extraneous mechanics--like coins (XXL)--that I personally fell drags the game down a bit.

I see. Thanks for the input. The expansions are hard to get anyway, so I think I'll stick with the base game for now.

I just wish I had access to that European board & card game Advent Calendar that gives promos for some of my favorite games, including this one.  :-\
